maybe cause the code's optimized enough it doesn't require a dedicated DSP card?

well was it reviewed or just scored?
if it was reviewed why not just read it.. and if not you could also download the demo of mixpack and find out for yourself.

Prob because you cannot use it on a laptop, its PCI only.PeeBs wrote:Hi,In Computer Music mag this month, they give PSP MixPack 10/10 and the UAD-1 card only 8/10!?Why is the MixPack better than the UAD-1 dsp card!?

here just my little input here~
you may agree or not~
PSP:
>#of instance depends on host CPU
>requie no DSPcard, need no magama when using with laptop
>more tweakable controls over the tones
>quality sound with its own characteristic
UAD-1:
>still the most favorible compressor plugins in any platform
>easy to get a likeable sound
>decent reverb that still rival most VST/DX software plugins, except sample reverbs
>great EQ with extreme percision
-BUT limited plugins can be run in one DSP card
-BUT it also adds latency to the signal
-BUT need a Magama when using with laptop

Of course, the PSP doesn't support PDC. Which should knock at least one mark off in my book. Anyway, I think unfortunately the ProjectPak is a bit of a rip-off. The StudioPak's really good, but too damn expensive.

Even though i now have the uad-1, my psp mixpack gets used as always.
MixSaturator is a thing of its own, mixTrebble does a good job, and so does mixBass.
Mixpressor is top for me when it comes to dirty compression on beats and rhytmical stuff, but also the presets alone are well done (for other fields)

What herr Putte said I second. The MixPack plugs do add character to their respective parts. I am using them all more and more.
Cheers,

I'm using mixtrebble in sample designing regulary... before loading them in a sample program ( EXS24 usually )
you can do an amazingly precise and subbtle work of rehearsing the harmonic content on that purpose

So $74.50 for the whole MixPack!
