Hi, there are input and output controls for each module, look between the input ant output meters, there is a small fader handle that allows you to turn up and down the levels for each module!

Hi Saverio,
regarding those input/output faders, would it be possible to add a value display for those? All the other knobs and controls have a value display (even with numeric value entering when clicking, great!), why did you leave them away for the faders? Might be just me, but this issue really annoyed me when demoing the multicomp and channelstrip and I decided not to buy. Else I think the usability is quite good, especially the multicomp. Clean and functional, I like that.
(Sorry, don't want to hijack this thread with my nitpicking, but I am kind of a usability nut)

I just looked at the freq response of a few plugins and you are right, it seems like more of a hi roll off than some others.

You know what... i don't know way, know that you are making me notice it it makes perfectly sense (at least for multicomp)
in the channelstrip they are really an addition of the las minute and there is no space to fit another control there.

But keep the suggestion coming where possible i will implement them all!!

I beg to differ

I also took the liberty of making the in/out handles a little bit bigger, they are awfully small, and to brighten up things a bit. Font size is also quite small for me (i know I need new glasses someday...)

Don't say that too loud!

+1

I own several Hornet plugins (channelstrip, trackshaper and multicomp) and I really like them. I also like the fact that there's no hassle with copy protection.

Multicomp does wonders on my complete mixes and I use channelstrip for the rough soundshaping.

Trackshaper doesn't sound good on everything, true, it's a bit of hit and miss but I use it a lot on hihats, snares and synths.

wow thanks for the suggestion! ChannelStrip need an update is the first plugin i made and while the DSP code is perfectly fine, i learned a lot on making stuff more useful in these years (ChannelStrip is from 2011...) and i really want to design a 3.0 version (the one you are looking at is the 2.0, the 1.0 was really awful and just a prototype after all)

Saverio, any word on slight hi cut when turning on oversampling? is it a bug, is it a feature?
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

If I may suggest adding the same to MultiComp as well. :D

What I would like to see [literally ] in the Channel Strip is at least a tiny bit bigger font for values. It's just so tiny that I often cannot discern the numbers. Otherwise, I find the GUI great! :)

And both MultiComp and ChannelStrip could use a Mono/Stereo button, you know - vocals, bass, most of the drums, most of the stuff is recorded in mono. ;) Stereo processing is used for synths, overheads, ambience, busses. Mono processing usually cuts down the CPU usage by 50%, too. Use 10 or more instances of the same plugin in mono instead of stereo and CPU savings can become considerable. Well, 50%. :D

Oh, and I like what oversampling does. Just compensate with some high shelving EQ at 8-12kHz if you need to. That's one of the reasons why I said HoRNet plugins are great for retro production.

p.s. there is a bug with peak meters in the last ChannelStrip. They don't seem to show exactly what's going on.

you are right, the GUI has been designed on 13'' macbook so probably the font are a little tiny for larger displays...

This is not necessary because every part of the channelstrip and the multicomp (the compression models, the filters, the saturation engine, everything) is coded in SSE assembler, so actually a stereo channel is processed in one pass exactly as if it were mono

They are not peak meters, but VU Meters, calibrated to -18dBFS that's why you may think they are off!

sorry, didn't see that! thanks!

also, i noticed that when you turn on oversampling, all the compressor models in the channel strip cut off high end. is that normal?
Version 1.2.7 of MultiComp has fixed the freq dropoff when using HQ, I expect ChannelStrip will get an update soon as well... :)

I strongly suggest updating to the new version.

Thank you for pointing out the issue in the first place.

The oversampling algo is not ideal yet, but for the moment i'll have to live with that, using a more advanced method would imply a partial redesign of the compression models, i'm keeping that for later when i have more time to test latency and performance issues
