I haven't been able to test it yet on that system with mavericks. So far where i do most of my work on my laptop in my bed, 80% of the time, cubase is completely hosed and unusable. I have literally been stopped dead in my tracks.
In good fun I hope, but couldn't resist ...

What? Is it my brand of humor?

Would it help any if I told you I'm German?

Short info:
Got word by Steinberg - TL;DR: answer was more than dissatisfying.

Now we're back to "it's your rig" and "we can't tell you about future improvements of the ASIO engine".

So... §=/("§$/=)"(§ pissed off!

Hello Theo,

Actually, sample related instruments are known to cause issues with the ASIO Guard. Which is why I was constantly spammed with the info "turn off the guard for these plugins individually".

Might be a solution for you, still not acceptable though. Another hoop to jump through.
Asio guard is broken with 100% algorithmic instruments also. Not only does it miss first notes but it often does something else by creating noise bursts (like buffer overruns and phantom notes) during blank passeges.

Unfortunately cubase 7 is completely broken for me in mavericks, and when I say completely, I mean it literally doesn't work anymore with my core audio compliant USB speaker plugged into my laptop. It doesn't use any drivers just a simple USB 1.1 speaker. Something must have changed in the stack that cubase doesn't like. Once cubase is launched and you press play, its the most horrid continual noise burst I have ever heard, at any buffer, regardless of asio guard settings. Its continual full volume "screaming distortion" and the macs mute button doesn't even stop it, only a force quit does. It doesn't even register on the cube mixer, and had I been in front of my studio monitors I say I'd have suffered hearing damage to my good ear. I literally have never heard anything like it before, ever and will post a short video at some point. Logic, s1 and ableton all work perfectly fine with the same speaker, however once cubase has been launched, even once,,it is hosed for all the other hosts with the same precise issue until the mac is rebooted. So I am a complete loss as that's how I make music when not at home. It works ok with the inbuilt sound but I can't use headphones cause I can't get used to sound coming only from one side, with a speaker at least it all sounds stereo in a way. And the macs on board speaker is far too soft to do anything whatsoever. I literally jump and cringe every time I am about to press the space bar now.. I. Can't even explain how horrible the sound is till others hears it on the video, its no over exaggeration, it is seriously painful and dangerous, I'd be surprised if the speaker isn't blown or damaged in some way. Oh well I can't roll back to ML without a fresh install from the ground up and I a, not willing to do so, so I guess cubase is out for me for now. This can't be fixed fast enough as it would logically affect all core audio compliant USB 1.1 interfaces.
I am sorry to hear about this:
But Apple's Mac OS X 10.9 has just been released. Currently, we are testing all Steinberg products for OS X 10.9 compatibility. The testing is still going on, so we can't provide you with the final results.

However, what is known so far is that all Steinberg software products (except for Cubase LE / AI / Elements 7.0.6) are affected by an issue with the CoreAudio2ASIO component when using audio hardware in class-compliant mode which may lead to dangerous digital noise. Some Steinberg hardware products need to be updated as well to ensure full compatibility with the new OS X version. We therefore recommend you not to upgrade to OS X 10.9 yet.*

We are already working on updates for affected products in order to make them available as soon as possible. We will keep you up to date.

*In case you are using Cubase 7 and want to update to OS X 10.9 anyway, please make sure to deactivate the "Display have separate Spaces" option in the Mission Control Preferences.

Bellow is the link to the official announcement, which was done the 23 of october:

Is that also a confirmation for the bug reports and test results I filed?

Because it also boils down to drivers/the ASIO component. Again, my tech told me to roll back drivers (if possible, no success so far without reinstall) to pre v3.14 (RME HDSPe, lowest version still listed is Version 3.085 from 09.05.2011) on Windows.

If so, I'll join in with TheoM:
"That has to be fixed. Fast."

More like, lightning fast!

I'm not sure if it's mentioned already, but in the Cubase 7 implementation of variaudio, I no longer hear the samples when moving tones up and Down, as I would in Cubase 5. Very inconvenient!!!

Well I couldn't possibly find any humour and failed to understand how you did in something that caused me physical pain. But, whatever,I guess we are all different.
Didn't see any mention of physical pain. In my post was I ribbing you for finding another DAW completely unusable, nothing more.

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been shut down yet.
