What do you guys use to play giga stuff? Do you find that you have a lot of tweaking to do after you import or does it tend to work for you "as-is" ?

I wonder if there is any sampler that can import giga reliably at all ...
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

I'm afraid it's SFZ+ beta version which is no more available...
(Costed me 44 Euros !!! :-o )
Maybe those who don't have it can do a kind of petition...

I'm using both Kontakt and EmulatorX for my Giga Samples. They do ok on basic sample sets but when you use highly programed sample sets full of Giga features such as key switching you loose out. On the other hand, EmulatorX will allow filter and routing posibilities that GigaStudio cannot.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I have used Giga for years. Imports Giga reliably! Oh wait, ya... unforntutnally the next best is sfz+, which works flawlessly for imports, as it just reads the file in directly, not translate it in to its own format.

Simple music philosophy - Those who can, make music. Those who can't, make excuses.

From my very humble experience on my laptop, it's a toss up between Halion & VSampler (excluding SFZ). Haven't used them with any orchestral samples, just Kawai Piano and some Moog & Rhodes samples. They both seem to import and play basic giga samples good enough for expressive playing. (kontakt never really was able to on my Laptop)

Another vote for HALion here. In my experience it handles dimensions and key-switches pretty well and HALion 3 which is just around the corner should be even better.
