How the monkey can people produce a smashing, life changing, ground breaking album after shooting up heroin and downing a bottle of whiskey?!?!
I've had 4 beers and I'm only good for the couch, and shortly thereafter the bed.

well, they usually had a lot of people helping them to be prolific ... and they always needed some money of course ...

Who are you referring to?

I was recording some backing vocals recently. The singer arrived with a 1/4 bottle of Famous Grouse and got stoned before I recorded a note. She was fine.

Any drugs push the creative process. But they're disturbing at the production stage.

Good question.
I guess my question was subconsciously inspired by a conversation I had today with a colleague about John Frusciante and Mothers Milk/BSSM.

Ridiculously influential albums and he was off his head. So much so he needed all his teeth replaced!!!

If it's Lemmy, Shane McGowan or Shaun Ryder it's kind of a necessity rather than something that would prevent them from making the music they're known for.
