Excellent point!hibidy wrote:I'd two like more meat and potatoes too. Now you've got me thinking.....if trilian is very meat and potatoes, there is no reason omni can't do that.

Somehow by these last few comments... I get the impression that Omni is metaphorically akin to a vegan pyromaniac?

IIRC, Eric said Omnisphere does have some organic sounds in it's soundsource library but it's aim is not and will not be more acoustic instruments.
HOWEVER, in that thread Eric posted on the other forum, he did hint there's new products. My guess is it will be like Trillian, which specializes in Bass even though Omni has its own basses. Meaning, the new products might be Piano, Violins, other organic instruments that can INTEGRATE into Omnisphere the same way Trillian does. That would be AWESOME!
I honestly don't expect a full blown East West style Orchestral library, that's not the Spectrasonic style (at least I think). I wouldn't doubt though if they make some "Organic Acoustic" instruments loaded with experimentally sampled Violins, Pianos, guitars (bowed guitars would be cool), water, air, ect...
It would curl my toes if Eric would at least hint if I am on the right track with this thinking or if he could just spill some beans already since it's almost the end of the year

As far as Stylus RMX2 goes (or whatever the successor to RMX is called), I think there are two companies who have eclipsed Spectrasonics in adding value to RMX and the way that they did this should be modeled and/or purchased by Spectrasonics.
Nine Volt Audio has created much more amazing aftermarket sounds for RMX, including mostly melodic and harmonic samples. It's bizarre that Spectrasonics did 5 SAGE expaders, Ilio did 4, and then NOTHING for years. Weirdsville. I have also made that comment in the past, probably 3 years ago.
Also, Sampleholics created a way to use acoustic drums in RMX, and it was brilliant. They basically turned acoustic drum multi-samples into rex loops, and then when you convert them, the acoustic drum samples are in RMX. They're a little unwieldly because you use them in slice mode, but the idea is so, so smart and it opens up new worlds of ways to look at getting sounds into RMX.
In addition to the soundware knocked out of the park by the above two developers, it seems like Spectra themselves should be working on the inclusion of drum synthesis - at least in kit mode - for the future of RMX. They make such exquisite synths, it seems like a no brainer. AND THAT, FOLKS, IS MY MEAGER $.02.

No, they're just going through the 'gluten-free-vegan-I'm-a-buddhist-because-I-want-to-set-things-on-fire' phase. But even buddhist monks are never seen leaving their temple without their smartphone these days.Arglebargle wrote:Spectrasonics is dead!
Besides, EP says they're re-vamping the site to include better MP3 demos. So they're working on not being so elitist, which is a major upgrade for them.

Well, my dreams are crushed. It looks like the whole before 2014 part of the post Eric made on that forum was edited out. At least, I can't find anything about that anymore.
So...I doubt we'll hear anything from them this year.
