Hello all,

Steinberg has released today the 8.0.3 maintenance update which brings many improvements in areas such as loudness measurement, audio montage, plug-ins, user interface and key commands. The update also adds compatibilty to cocoa-based plug-ins and includes an updated version of Voxengo CurveEQ.

The update is available as a free download from the Steinberg support website:

WaveLab 8

WaveLab Elements 8

I kind of miss two bug fixes on that list:

1) The EBU R-128 meter being off by 1dB if you use custom settings (unless that is meant with the TP meter fix)

2) The infamous "Audio Forward Bug" for VST3 plugins with certain developers, especially if they sticked to the SDK specs (and back and forth communication with the SDK team didn't resolve that).

Guess I'll update and check if these two isues are still present. If yes, I'll file another support ticket, or get in touch with PG directly.

Is this another of Steinberg's wonderful "you have to manually uninstall old version to install new version" installer deals?

Because I just got 5 updates from Native Instruments and their installer software does that automatically for me. It's painless and easy.

I have confidence in their software. Unlike certain other companies.

You do not need to uninstall anything before.
Download the update and run it from the .exe or dmg file depending on you operating system.
