I recently tried the demo for PSP Xenon as they've got their sale on and I was really impressed with the auto gain adjustment on the output which seemed pretty accurate to me.

So, is there a plug that can do this sort of matching for any VST in my host? i.e. I could put any compressor or chain of VSTs in and have this VST match input (RMS?) loudness to output.

I realise this would likely need some parallel/modular routing as it would have to be able to monitor input aswell as output, but could be really handy for quick AB-ing.

edit: thinking about this I guess it would be difficult to have a neutral plug like this outside other vsts as the plug would be a compressor by nature itself? but then could it work on a snapshot of audio instead?

Consider this a +1 for your thread! :)

Would be super useful even for quick ABing of different plugs even if you had to delete it make manual adjustments later for a full mix.

I don't know if/how good it works though.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Seems to work nicely for a quick A/B so far, thanks! Great the way it works with streaming between two instances so you can use it in a linear fx chain too!

I think you put one before the compressor and one after then link them and I believe they can do the auto gain makeup...

This one doesn't seem to react to the audio but is a paired gainer, where the dB parameters compensate each other directly.

Still a useful plug though!

cheers

Have to say after using for a bit, the blue cat gain does the job nicely!

Even though you may have to adjust the makeup of the 'sandwiched' compressor, and it's not fully automatic, it speeds things up and the small adjustments you do need to make are easier as they are already in the right ballpark. Equally it doesn't make any unwanted automatic jumps.

thanks again asdfrewq (quick name to type btw) and bluecat!
