So this doesn't work without giving Google Wallet credit card info?

Doesn't seem to work without it, as far as I can tell.sergevoluminous wrote:So this doesn't work without giving Google Wallet credit card info?

link on the music radar page takes me to a facebook page but nothing loads it just sits there trying like it is being inundated with a denial of service attack.

Most of these free offers are just too much work to bother with. I figured Google would have all my credit card info anyway without me even having to give it to them.

Weird, seems to be something to do with the way the link was set up (not by me!).yessongs wrote:link on the music radar page takes me to a facebook page but nothing loads it just sits there trying like it is being inundated with a denial of service attack.
Here's the direct link: https://play.google.com/store/newsstand ... _magazines
It looks like the offer is still live (even though it was supposed to end yesterday), so you should be able to grab it if you're fast.

Yes, you need to sign up for a Google Wallet, and that requires a credit card, I'm afraid.Examigan wrote:Doesn't seem to work without it, as far as I can tell.sergevoluminous wrote:So this doesn't work without giving Google Wallet credit card info?

Just a heads up on this.Lee CM wrote:Yes, you need to sign up for a Google Wallet, and that requires a credit card, I'm afraid.Examigan wrote:Doesn't seem to work without it, as far as I can tell.sergevoluminous wrote:So this doesn't work without giving Google Wallet credit card info?
I signed up for Google wallet for this offer yesterday and indeed had to give my credit card details as discussed. I ordered both CM and FM magazines, but after this Google returned the following error:
"Sorry, we were unable to process this request. Any charge will be automatically cancelled within 24 hours. Please try again after 24 hours."
After checking with my credit card co. Google had actually TAKEN MONEY from my card! I tried to contact Google only to discover that there is no phone number for them. I have sent an email to them but there is still no response after more than 24 hours.
So I am now left with the situation that Google have my credit card details, can seemingly charge it at will (as they have already made a number of charges to it), I cannot find on newsstand where to delete these details or get in touch to query it, and to top it all I still have no magazines!
Hopefully my experience isn't the norm, but I urge anyone to seriously consider that when giving any company your financial information, to check first that they provide telephone support as a minimum for when things do go wrong.

^ They tried to charge my card several times too, but it was flagged so I blocked them.
Seems a bad way to do business, especially for freebies.

So unfortunately, I'm not alone on this.
I have just rechecked this morning with my credit card provider and no refund has been issued.
Call me naive, but I just cannot believe a company the size of Google does not have ANY customer facing telephone support when dealing with financial transactions with its customers. It should be forced to do so by law IMO.
