Been struggeling to buy Billie Jean by Michael Jackson for more than 30 minutes. First I read reviews of CD download stores.

Tried test winner: Norways local Platecompaniet. Registered and did everything, only to discover that they had removed all mp3 and instead use Wimp streaming. Ahhhh.

Tried CD on. The links for that particular song did not work. Just tried to buy another song, and yes it worked, only Beat it had broken links.

I have tried Amazon.com earlier, and they refuse to trade with Norway. (Service not available in Norway.

I do not want itunes, because then I have to install a special program on my computer. I will not do that as this is a developer machine. I am very careful not to install programs.

So this is how bad it is. We have had music online stores for 10 years, and this is how far we have come? And you have to register and give them adress, email so they can spam you every week, and phone number. I guess I could download the an illegal mp3 in just a minute, but I will not do that.

Sadly in the digital age the customer is seldom right. I also get this error when I try to buy mp3 albums from Amazon

You need to read the OP, he said he doesn't want to install an intrusive programme on his computer just to be able to buy a mp3 track.

Thanks for the help.

I finally found all the songs I needed on CDon. There were some dead "Billie Jean" links, but I found some other that worked.

I am always amazed how difficult it is to buy music online. I had thought that by now they had made it really easy so that people should not be tempted to download illegal mp3.

WOM still exists??? They were the biggest record store where I grew up, I thought they ceased to exist. That was always exiting, me going from small town to the next biggest city (Kiel) and looking for new LPs/CDs at WOM or even more often, Blitz records ( they were way more indie!).

Ive stopped buying physical media for music, since buying them in download form is so cheap these days.

(mp3million, ivave, etc.)

Yeah well if they operate in accordance with the law of the Ukraine and Cyprus, paying license fees for all materials, and they allow me to buy as a EU citizen, then that's ok I guess?

No, the highest quality is where the highest quality is found.

If you are going to distrubute something for sale you aren't going to distrubute it in different formats. Niether are the distributers going to recompress to save on download stream.

My Sister has purchased thousands of songs from itunes. And moving from device to device is a pain in the arse due to the drm they employ. She's actually had to repurchase music she already has due to the draconian drm position in place. And yet she still uses it even though the only "i" she has is an ipod.

I've never used Itunes. When purchasing online I use Amazon. DRM free.

Itunes is notorious for price gouging overseas

itunes is not the best place to market your music. If someone say. Buys your mp3 then buys your song again for something else like a ringtone. You get squat. sip, zero, zeiltch on the secondary sale.

I still haven't used i-Tunes but after working a month for Amazon, I'm not an Amazon fan anymore, either.

Would be nice to see a better music distribution service, not these dubious companies from Ukraine where the artists won't get anything if a whole album only costs $2...
