I agree that no crossfades is quite odd for anything leaning towards being an audio editor, I'd be surprised if quite a few people don't feel the exact same way about that.

I just don't understand why that should actually make anyone "angry". :)

Now if my daw of choice removed crossfade functionality, yeah, i'd be really pissed off. But getting all twisted up over something that isn't even for sale yet, something that you may not even actually like using or want to buy anyway (kinda don't know until there's a demo and an actual list price) is a little bit of a different context.

It's a really strange thing but i do get the idea that once there is a demo some will be climbing over each other to make YouTube videos of all of BitWigs subjective flaws. :)

Certainly will not be the DAW to end all DAWs, but from the look of it will be my main DAW.

IF Price allow it...

Cool stuff, Thomas, thanks as always.

Lack of crossfades is probably a big deal objectively speaking, but it's not going to bother me. There are of course some kinds of projects I would never try in Live/Bitwig due to lack of comping though. It could always turn up later though. They could do as Live has done with their rather simple implementation but something tells me they might shoot a little higher. I guess those who were interested but need the fades will just have to keep waiting.

All we can do is speculate. I'm guessing 449. It's certainly not going to be under 349, I'll bet my car cup holder with pennies on that!

Post

I couldn't care any less about crossfades.

I kind of hope Bitwig skips the marketing and boxing of there product and sells it cheaper than that . Id like to see a $199 and $99 version . Maybe the $199 can have some mow the yard and laundry doing feature sets that will make it appealing and the $99 can just host VST s , Drum Racks and such for us economical folk . :hihi:

Indeed but at 350€ for me it will not be a question of value anymore, but money, actually lack of money :hihi: (off topic[ quite ironic they being germans sponsored by EU funds and me from one of the austerity countries, well everyone knew sooner or latter that would start to happen ]off topic) :hihi:

Anyway we know it will be a single version (no lite or Suite) quite a risk to launch a single one at above 200€, IMO since none else, AFAIK, have a single version above that prices, so I am holding up big hopes to that (or for big big sales).

Being a 1.0 they'll probably have some good sales just to get it out there.

I expect the list price to maybe more reflect where they intend to go, not where they are now. That way they won't have to raise the list price later and piss people off. Maybe better to have sales prices / lower "street prices" now than to open that list price can of worms later.

Make that +1. $349 and up. $449 sounds about right. That's my guess.

I think bitwig has said there will be only one version. I'm guessing it will be between 300-500. They are a smaller company than ableton, right? So maybe they could get away with pricing it lower than the standard ableton version. If they did maybe they'd have a better chance of stealing away ableton users.

If it was around 700 I really don't know if I can swing that even though I'm so psyched for it.

Does anybody care about list prices? Honest question. I mean I don't have any idea what the list price of 99% of the stuff that I buy is because things never sell for their actual list price. I thought most people who even know about it regard it as some sales concept that stores can use to say "hey bud, we're giving you a discount!" If they say "on sale" and then the sale ends that's something different though.

A version with hardware? Do you have a source for that?

Back in the summer when I asked them

Beyond that they didn't say what hardware.. I'm guessing, due to their showing at tradeshows with Nektar, that it would probably be with Nektar at the least.. but, again, that is just a guess.
