So you wouldn't prefer under $99?
:?

Actually I can't imagine IK putting anything into Sampletank 3 that would make me want to part with $99 or over for the upgrade from the current VI's, so that would very likely turn me into waiting mode. I guess we'll see.
i look at Halion Sonic and Sampletank 3 to be in the same class... i paid $99 for the last Halion Sonic update/upgrade... another point... Halion Sonic uses a dongle... Sampletank 3 hopefully will not need a dongle... in that case i would be willing to spend $129 on Sampletank 3... i would be able to use Sampletank 3 on my mobile setup whereas i only use Halion Sonic on my mainsetup because of dongle issue...

No, no dongle. That was dropped a long while ago and is not coming back for SampleTank 3, if ever since we dropped it based on user feedback.

like i said all along... the release of Sampletank 3 will indicate "exactly" what type of company IK Multimedia is...

I really have to disagree there. I wasn't sure about the HalionSonic2 upgrade, but once I got it, I have to say it was well worth the $100 upgrade. After really getting into it, I have to say that it is probably more on par with Komplete than Sampletank. There are a bunch of instruments, beat tools and sound engines included (the Model-C Hammond emu alone was worth it for me), and there are a ton of options for tweaking/layering, etc. I never thought I would upgrade further, but I have to say that it has me seriously thinking about going up to the full Halion package.

Meantime, I can only compare it to the current Sampletank 2 (and all the 'powered by' instruments) and assume that the only new true conceptual feature in V 3 will be x64. Even assuming that the sound quality will be seriously updated, I can't imagine that, what is essentially a ROMpler (albeit a GREAT ROMpler), can be considered to be in the same class as HS2.

first i would like to point out that my comparison was "only" the upgrade/update price of Halion Sonic to Halion Sonic 2 or Hypersonic to Halion Sonic 1 i.e. $99... i would compare Sampletank 2 to Hypersonic 2 as far as features go... one would think that Sampletank 3 main competition would be Halion Sonic 2... both being romplers... Kontakt is more in the class of Mach Five lastest release and Halion...

I get it. Still, I think HS2 is more than a rompler. There are some very neat tricks that it does that, IMHO, elevate it to a different level.

And, BTW, I referenced Komplete, not Kontakt, simply because of the range of instruments and effects on offer in HS2 really makes it, I think, a competitor.

I think iK Multimedia should be happy that after all this time people still care about a Sampletank 3..... Personally I'm in no hurry...release it when it's good and ready but if I were them I wouldn't assume interest will continue indefinitely.......

i am just thinking that Sampletank 3 will have features to rivalry HS2... anything less than that will not be a "good" roll-out/look for Sampletank 3...

my bad with the mix up with komplete/kontakt...

Edit - It was way too long, just go find and read my numbered list post and you'll understand. I will simply repost or point to that post from here on in where appropriate because it pretty much covers and dispels the myth of this being a simple 64-bit upgrade.

Peter - you know that i have been a chop buster with Sampletank 3 release... but i know Sampletank 3 will be more than a 64-bit upgrade... i am pretty sure some of IK Multimedia's EFX will be included with the update/upgrade... new sound library i.e. streaming from disk... cant predict the CPU usage because some of IK Multimedia's efx are CPU intensive... all things considered... i am looking forward to something nice... just hoping and praying the update/upgrade prices are customer friendly!!!

I can only hope that you are correct. That would certainly make it [almost] worth the wait.

Yeah, maybe road to nowhere, time is priority, allowing it to get this far
time-wise show that IKM have their fokus elsewhere, ST apear as a "burden"
for them to maintain and develope, ST3 might well be the last, they make
more money on the phone-toys now, and competitors there is plenty today

Will get the ST3 upgrade though, but only if its cheap, and mostly to get
the old total-bundle sounds up running again,..
