My Pulse 2 arrived yesterday! :) But could someone do me a favor please?

I'm running 10.6.8 on the Mac, but the latest Pulse firmware update is for 10.7 and beyond. Unfortunately I won't be able to update my mac for a few weeks.

Could someone throw me a slightly older installer, if it's not too much trouble? :)

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

The firmware updater app is like a moment with HAL 9000 - a cool surprise when running it for the first time.

You can upgrade by sending the midi file to your P2 if there is no installer app available.

Oh yeah, and it looks like v1.13 is up!

I guess there are no such things as midi controllers ;). Mapping any parameter you want is easy within any modern DAW or controller keyboard.

FYI, the Pulse 2 already has a 3rd party computer interface as well. All of the knobs and controls are graphically shown and limitless patch storage awaits. It works seamlessly within Ableton Live as too using Max for Live.

Thanks for that! I'll give it a go.

synnys, I am using the editor for Pulse 2 inside Ableton 9 and everything appears to work fine using Live's Macro knob control. However, none of the Bi-Polar knobs like the the Filter Env. Amount knob in the Pulse 2 Editor are not working properly and just want to confirm it's not on my end.

I can map these particular knobs in Ableton but it will only sweep up to its midway point. These knobs (values -63,... +64) will only sweep from -63 up to 0 and not go any further.

If I grab the knob on the Pulse2 Editor window itself with my mouse it works fine all the way -63 -+63) and shows up correctly inside the Pulse 2 hardware. BTW, I'm on Pulse v. 1.13

Ableton's Map adjustment window will only accept -64 and +64 as limits on entries. Any higher or lower is not possible.

edit:
it was not a bug the user thought by mistake

v1.13 seems to be unable to dump patches properly. Both SynnyS and Softknobs editors are not reading the patch dumps. Back to v1.11 again i think :(

Post

In 1.13 not only dumping patches but if reinstalling the factory patches is as simple as playing the Factory midi Patch file into the Pulse 2 then it's not working. I somehow messed up Patch P352 and can't get it back. Oh, for a working Patch Library editor.

I haven't tried reverting back to V.1.11 yet. Maybe today if i get some time.

Post

funny thing.. I reverted back to v1.11 and that particular patch is now working correctly- perhaps the OSC2 issue noted earlier in 1.13 was affecting that preset. I guess the Factory Preset mid file was loading correctly all along but simply 1.13 was not playing it back correctly.

Here is my Pulse 2 demo. Just raw sound without any post-processing, only basic pan/volume automation. Eleven layered tracks.

Hey guys,

Just got my pulse 2 and ..woww

Really great sound, i have a voyager, vermona perfourmer and others bit the pulse really takes everyone out in the higher octaves.
I really like the hi-tech sound, reminds me of oberheim a little, great noise, very nicely done.

However..lol. Well, i am very surprised not to see 14 bit midi messages, at least for the cut off and resonance,
I ve been following this post and have not seen now one mention about the filter stepping. I really hope this can be fixed, at least for the filter cut off and resonance, please hi resolution midi, possible?

I have a tetra and will sell for another pulse, just fix the filter stepping please?!

I am please to give my honest modest personal comment,

Pulse 2 is a top mono synth in the market that compares and surpasses in sound very very much more expensive synths out there :)

Best wishes

Have been watching this thread since start and currently own the Classic Pulse+ and am one to watch an O.S. get all kinks out before finally purchasing.

Firstly, is there *any validity* to what member Goldenage2012 reported, ["However..LOL. Well, I am very surprised not to see 14 bit midi messages, at least for the cut off and resonance,
I've been following this post and have not seen now one mention about the filter stepping. I really hope this can be fixed, at least for the filter cut off and resonance, please hi resolution midi, possible?"], because of all the reading and Sound Cloud or otherwise demos, I have YET to hear ANY stepping with the Filter Frequency/Resonance, nor have I read ANYWHERE BUT aforementioned post, that there's possibly this issue. Is this confirmed and reproducible by others on all O.S. or something introduced into 1.13? With endless encoders, would find this pretty odd if true, having higher resolution with better encoders and reason I love endless encoders.
I tend to not believe a solitary report of something that serious, especially since nobody has commented further on this.

Also, my original Pulse+ has O.S. 2.01, which recall is required if one wanted to stack up to 8 Pulses for "Poly Pulse".
With that said, does anyone know in respecting the obvious differences between the Pulse 2 and Pulse+, can one make a millage of mixed older/new Pulse to achieve Poly Pulse Stack?

Almost lastly; A German interview I viewed not long ago mentioned a Pulse 2 Keyboard is forthcoming. If that is so, any news if it would have BOTH CV/GATE IN and OUTs, as opposed the Pulse 2's just cv/gate out?

Lastly, any idea when final O.S. or when official stable O.S. will be realized? Just have a lot on my To Do and Learn List and like anyone, just want it to work and integrate into my set-up without a lot of speed bumps.

Hi all guys,
i'm considering the Pulse2 for my next synth purchase.
In my music i often use a lot of modulations via Midi CC and/or VST automation.
How the Pulse2 respond to very fast modulation curves coming from MIDI.
Any zipper noise? Is every parameter it properly interpolated?
many thanks for the info and all the best.

here i triggered a Pulse 2 Pad via Midi with steps from 0 directly to 127 - i can't hear any zipper or other (unwanted) noise

http://soundcloud.com/the-trooper-1/par ... triggering

but i have to say a guy in a german forum gave back his Pulse 2 because of any noise he heard...i dont know i dont hear such

you can change the preset with every note no problem for the Pulse 2
but that will probably not sound very good if long releases are there...

I also did not hear any stair-stepping when changing cutoff or other things

but there were some confusions with the last updates, some had faults others had not...
so i can only speak for myself and for the Pulse 2 i have

however it's a realy great synth :tu:
