Can't be used with ReaJS IIRC, because ReaJS needs to be updated first to support new JS syntax updates that were added since Reaper v4.25 onward.

The King of Stepseqs is still ERA2, which looks deceivingly simple on the outside but is by far the most capable step sequencer plugin that has ever existed. Explaining only half of what it can do would take more text than anyone would care to read, and thats not an exaggeration. Its that deep and capable. Thesys doesnt come anywhere near that, in fact not even remotely.

ERAs sequencing capabilities are simply unmatched, and the same probably goes for its built-in arpeggiator, which can also actually interact with the sequences.

I've been always keen on ERA but it does not show up in the shop (guess it's discontinued since ages).

Heard so many great things about it but never had the chance to try it - not even a demo. I checked/used almost any sequencer out there and still am a huge fan of Artwonk (which never worked lag-free on my machines, but... it's genious).

My response was to 'on the market', and if we are talking 'market' then ERA2 is the right answer.

Thesys is monophonic. You can't use it for drums. You'd need twelve instances of Thesys to mimic only the "tracks"-feature. It doesn't have variations, too. You can't set the steps order as freely as you do in ERA. And so on.

But I'm curious why Thesys feels 'complex' to you. It's perfectly straightforward and logical.

Thesys cant be controlled by midi any where near the macro level of ERA either.
ERA is more about being able to perform with it.

Thesys, while I like it, always felt more of a rehash of the aquired ERA codebase, as lot of the composing functions are similar but without the flexibility
