If I had heard this without the vocals I would have thougt
"what a shame" but with your vocals it makes perfect sense.
Nice contrast...Sort of like sweet/sour sauce.

I wouldn't say awful...More like lo-fi sound which can be just fine
if it is mixed with something opposite like in this case
