Bought it. Many Patches sound really good, just one pet peeve.... most patches do not respond to modwheel.
I like dynamic control: aftertouch, modwheel, pitchbend in my patches.

Looks like this is the right time for new Spire banks!

Congrats.
from the eight demo sounds seems you did use modwheel and aftertouch.. great.
/rant
but what's with, not only you, but I am really trying to understand the non traditional use of pitchbend. Even on pads I use pitchbend especially to transition between sections of songs sometimes..... I know it isn't only you who does it, but I really don't understand why....(well I have heard the reasons why, don't most controllers come with cc sliders now? to me it so easy to leave pitch bend to well, pitch bending, but for me it is still very irritating)
anyway good luck with this bank. /endrant
hopefully the new browser isn't too far behind.

In my logic i think of one single preset as a whole expressive instrument.zvenx wrote:Congrats.

I like to give more for the users, so many possibilities as possible with the controllers. It's like to have 2 or 3 presets in one, with smooth changes.
You'v downloaded the free patches, try the Fx GlassSticks.
The Modwheel softening the sound from glass to wood,
the Breath gives the decayed sound sustain, so it becomes a pad - bright or
soft (Mw)
The Pitchbend makes the initial speed of the sticks faster (up) or slower (down)
My decision was to put speed on Pitchbend because i feel it's much more fun and
more exressive in this case than pitch.
Another reason: my best friend have a nice, well equipped studio, but his master
keyboard only have Mw and Pb - and i guess many moore peeps out there, i want to show some fun for them also.
It's also very nice to have cutoff on the PB, because you can set the brigthness on useful middle freqs and you can open it or close it.
It's bipolar, the modwheel goes just one way.
I'm sorry you found this irritating zvenx, - hehe -Howard Scarr said once to me:
presets are meant to be tweaking. It's true.
If i use any preset in a track i always change something on it, maybe just the attack too slow, every song want a little different tweak.
Then just save it for that song.
I could have spare many hours to leave the Pitcbend by default, but i want
to show some other potential with it for many musician.
Thanks fisherKing and Soundpalace, glad you like itfisherKing wrote:bought. seriously, joseph...this is nice, the way the zebra soundsets are nice... good to see new soundsets coming for spire, and GREAT to see this kind of quality programming....

thanks for taking the time to explain your p.o.v.. very appreciated.
of course we will agree to disagree
, but at least now I know your rationale.

seriously, how many pitchbends can you use in a single song?? or even a group of songs? anyway, it's GREAT to have more modulation control from both the modwheel & PB wheel (in my opinion, of course). and you can always change that to work AS a pitchbend wheel... then save the preset...zvenx wrote:Congrats.

Pitchbend still stays one of the greatest expression tool we can get from a
synth, and i use it everywhere where it can make the best impact.

Another example of the complexity: in demo2.
Check out how the controllers changing the sound to something
totally different new tone.
From 2:00 til the end is a single multilayered preset:
AMB Zen Quartett HJ
- Ambient Bells - Ambient pluck(Mw up) - Bright bell overtones(Xpress up) - Overdrive Guitar overtone(Breath up) - Guitar Distorted(Breath up, Pb up).
Achieved by the Modwheel, Pitchbend, Expression and Breath controls.
