I may be talking out my arse, as far as I was aware the VSL was 100GB (inc Performance set). Perhaps that is the First Edition though. I am a bit behind! If you guys say it is 250 GB then so be it. Maybe Keith Harris is ok after all!!

I'll go and clean my arsehole now and let you professionals carry the debate on without me!
(Still, the website looks as dodgy as hell! Doesn't instill you with much confidence)

Keith Harris is cool, it's that bloody duck I hate.

Anyway, chill tomlad21, you seem to be easily offended..

Post

I'm not offended. It was meant to be a joke. Oh well!

peace everyone :)

though tomlad being right about the web site. bad web sites scare me off. look at garritan's place instead...

Post

Yeah the website aint great. But on the other hand saying

IMO, no real company would dream of putting out a 350 GB product at this stage, even if Hard drive sizes are increasing.

is just sillyness. :)

Ok, so I wasn't the only one who had this thought, too.

But Kirk Hunter is now very famous in the orchastral library world... And as he says :
"The emphasis is on content, not glitz”

This guy knows what he does...

for around 250000 floppy disks... That's cheap !!
The problem is the time it will take to install them....
2 minutes per floppy: 50000 minutes = 8333 hours = 347 days...

Post

Maybe I missed a zero ot two off that :)

He'll appear very soon....
Am I THAT predictable? ;) :P

Anyway, WOW! Kirk Hunter's stuff is fuckin' AMAZING! I also own his Solo Strings library, and have for almost a year. Top quality samples. I believe Ixox bought the strings on my recommendation, and I think he's quite satisfied, no?

VSL is 250 megs for full library in Pro Edition. I have the Pro version of the percussion, which is 35 gigs alone. Again, amazing stuff.

I know I certainly look forward to this. Conisdering a 250 gig hard drive is starting at $162, that ain't bad.

Wow... Sounds impressive... However having just bought Opus 1, I'm only interested in the solo strings, with portamento. I see that the old-fangled Solo Strings appear to have no such articulations... Hoping there will be an updated version with them in - although the full strings set is an impressive price. I hope there will be some legato performance tool (e.g. as a MIDI plugin) to implement these articulations in a user-friendly fashion.

Anyone know if the strings will have multi-speed portamento? Or is it just one?

Is Kirk Hunter US based (the name should be enough to confirm yes  ). I am quite interested but the amount of tax to pay on top to import into the UK :o .
