Q is awesome, enjoy it. But personally I like the Phoenix Q color scheme the best. Having a Phoenix Q+ (now that the latest beta OS fixed it crashing whenever you wanted to route things to analog filters...) is one of my wet dreams. :D

Yes, it's just the Q+ in whichever config/color format is always way too much $$, so my yellow Q Keyboard will look a bit odd next to my VERY dark Virus KC and KB, but will finally have it and even run it through a Sherman if feel need for analog filter gnarling...LOL!

Back on topic...it made MORE sense to me to spend $1600. on a mint Q Keyboard than to spend HALF THAT on new Pulse 2. Now, if I did not already HAVE a Classic Pulse+ in my set-up, my thinking perhaps could have been different, not knowing the utilitarian nature of Classic Pulse Plus.

See, if I WANT to have the Analog Four to control Pulse+ via CV/GATE OUTS of Analog Four, I **still** would not be able to utilize the new Pulse 2 in such a set-up with it only having cv/gate OUT. Otherwise if it HAD cv/gate IN, I could then run cables from Classic Pulse+ cv/gate OUT to Pulse 2 cv/gate ins but as it stands, one is pretty much stuck with using Pulse 2 cv/gate OUT to attempt to control FROM A MODULE, another analog synth with cv/gate IN.

Yes, I of course know there's midi and do know the Classic Pulse+ has an extensive midi config., as it seems Pulse 2 does as well. However, that is the grind and not so truthful advertising of Elektron when they stated the Analog Four had FULL midi capabilities/functions....however you mince the words, the Analog Four only has midi sync out...absolutely nothing else midi out and actually hoping a much needed O.S. update will address this BUT Elektron just announced Nov. 23 they will be releasing a brand new machine...instead of finishing an incomplete machine with so much potential.

This is on-topic because I am quite tired of "not quite complete" released new synths that seems to be more and more a norm these days with companies counting on their customers to either find the bugs or simply feed us the pill and forget the patient.
Whether a small or large synth maker--would not see how this could remotely be a great marketing plan. When's the last time ever heard of the "Big Asian Three" releasing a new synth "still under development"?? Yes, even as much as I love DSI, new products are given precedence over fixing remaining bugs in older products (Tetra, Tempest, et al).
Is this all simply consumerism and marketing greed at the very expense of one's reputation?
Glad Waldorf is back, no doubt! Seems to me it's pretty important to employ beta testers that USE SYNTHS in differing ways to catch these bugs...not when the product is now shipping.
Rant over, other than fact that *if* the Pulse 2 is as great and even greater than the Classic Pulse, then Waldorf have made a great synth because it's one versatile mono and a Pulse+ should be in everyone's kit for that and the cv to midi interface that even make the Mini Brute a great match-up for it.

I am now looking at the ms20 mini again. Will still be watching this topic though. I was really excited about this pulse 2 but I will wait and see how updates go.

nope man, if i need a smooth and long pitch modulation via MIDI i need the modulation resolution to be sub-halftone level.
coarse+fine tuning does not work.
if they add it 14 bit i guess adding it for osc would not cost to much resources i guess.

Since modulation wheel was mentioned, would after touch be wise as well since filter is often utilized (at least by me) through channel/poly after touch when using say a Keith McMillen Instruments QuNexus or higher end controller or synth? I quite often use my second Virus, a Virus KB to control my Waldorf XT and keyboard split for Classic Pulse+. That, or creative routing to expression pedals.

Keyboards only send channel pressure (the "global" aftertouch) and aftertouch ("polyphonic"/per key aftertouch) messages in 7-bit, so 14-bit is not possible.

yep. but what's the max range that pb can operate in terms of octaves on Pulse2?

36 semitones, separately adjustable up and down, IIRC. It's in the manual.

not bad, but not perfect for me :-)

with 14 bit CC a 16.384 hz range and hz by hz ! a lot more!
