I use the rule of thumb. Increments are in fingernail thicknesses..
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Don't ususally at least (carpenters) folding rulers "everywhere" have both inches and metric? Around here they (as far as I have seen without exception) fold out to metric (typically 100, 200 or 300 cm) but are usually still called "tumstock" which really means "inch ruler". There's been some attempts trying to launch "meterstock" as a name but no one bothers relearning.spacecult wrote:What else are you going to do with the other side of the ruler? Putting centimeters and stuff there seems at least as sensible as pokemon pictures.pough wrote:And such heresy is tolerated!?spacecult wrote:American rulers are marked with both real measurements and metric.

Just noticed that duality even is in the link. It's under "meterstockar" but called "tumstock".
Oh, guitars. I'm only buying new guitars if I stumble on something special. Haven't for a while. A nice telecaster or possibly something Les Paulish would be nice and have an easier time joining the collection.

I came across this and kinda dig it:

I think I'd prefer it without a pickguard, though. I never use a pick.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

In this case, the pickguard is used to simplify and economize the manufacturing, just as with the Gibson Melody Maker, Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe, or PRS S2 Mira.pough wrote:I think I'd prefer it without a pickguard, though. I never use a pick.

My bass-playing wife came *this* close to buying a solid white Music Man Stingray 5 with gold hardware. It had a birdseye maple neck and, well, it's a Stingray-5. We both managed to look past the goldness (and the whiteness) of that instrument just because it was such a fine fiddle.werp wrote:the last couple of pages convinced me that gold was the only option.
She ended up with a different 5-string, though. A good enough guitar will make you see past its looks.

Ever since getting my Ibanez 3120 out of storage, I haven't been interested in too many new guitars. Between that and my korina PRS Mira, I think I'm finally done!
FWIW, I plugged into a Yamaha THR10X amp today. Man, do kids (and parents) have it good today, that thing shreds for how small and quiet it is.

DeArmond made a series of guitars that shape a few years back (jetstar?). I had the cheap, short scale bass from the range and always regret selling it, just a really fun guitar to play.pough wrote:I came across this and kinda dig it:

I guess the shape wasn't popular as a few stores were soon clearing them out at bargain prices (the 'good' ones too, solid mahogany, fixed necks I think for £99 or so). I really should have bought one of the guitars...

@hibidy,
Been there done that, try waiting a year after you paid for it.

No Eric, it's still available. Once I took delivery of the Fender Cabronita thinline, I realised I had enough Gibsons.
The thinline is just beautiful to play and sounds out of this world...
Besides, I figured i'd have to redecorate if I bought the Zoot Suit and there's just too much pain in painting.

Good. That Zoot Suit has got to sound atrocious. Multiple layers laminated together like that will kill any resonance. I just didn't want to say that if you bought it.werp wrote:No Eric, it's still available. Once I took delivery of the Fender Cabronita thinline, I realised I had enough Gibsons.
