I got one good news and one less good news:
The good news:
The charity diploma's arrived including a letter with a big thank you from their fund raising manager Jens Risom. They are very surprised for the huge amount we raised. They tell us, that the funds are able to cover bread to 5000 children and their families for one day or 800 winter kits consisting of warm winter clothes, a warm jacket, socks, a wooly hat and lined rubber boots.
Sit back and reflect upon that for while... feels good, doesn't it?
As Jens wrote: "At Save the Children we focus not only on survival, but work just as much to give the 1000's of children a normalized life. These are deeply traumatized children who have seen all sorts of horrors in the eyes. Through our programs with Child friendly spaces (shelters), we can give children a life where they forget the horrors for a while and have the opportunity to talk about their experiences..."
Child friendly spaces, food or clothes. No matter where the funds end they will do good for the children.
The less good news:
I challenged PayPal on their fee's during the charity.
First I received a response directing me on how to setup my business as a charity organisation which I am not, so I told them I merely wanted the fee's refunded for a charity drive. To consider that, they needed proof of the transfer other than a forum thread and a YouTube vid (fair enough) so I supplied them the diploma and included names and emails to my contacts in Save the Children who could verify the transfer.
Today I received a phone call from the Danish PayPal customer service who told me that since my business was not a charity organisation, they could not refund the fees! No matter how hard I argued it didn't help. I had really set my mind up to a refund. To their defence, PayPal responded promptly and professional during the whole process and I won't let the decline spoil my good mood.
So, that's it. Over and out…
