What do you guys do when you cant find that one synth or that one sound you really need for your track or you can't find any ideas for a track/sample at all? This is happening to me right now lol.

Change to another hobby and listen to more music. Not necessarily in the same genre.

And BTW, this should be in Production Techniques or Everything Else ;)

"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I watch videos or play a video game and take the night off.

When intent fails, I experiment. Usually I start tracks with experiments anyway and proceed with "X would sound good with that..." If I can't make X happen, I just start with something else and usually make that work instead.

More than half the time, when I'm trying for a particular sound, I hit something more interesting on the way there anyway and I take that path instead.

That's pretty rare for me. The more common scenario is I just don't feel like sitting there doing it, or there's some game or something I would rather play instead. I wind up getting out of the habit of making music and need some kind of shove to get back in.

Whenever I'm stuck, I play around with loops and samples, and then I get new ideas...

Watching some older public domain movies can also help to get new inspirations...

Go play the guitar or piano.

I never get those issues with regards to choice of timbre. If I get a traditional writer's block, I might try to play back what I have backwards and get some new ideas from it.
