Considering the age of so many KVR accounts in here, I would've thought that we've all been through this cycle enough times over the past 10+ years to recognize just how unrealistic it is to want everything, but it still happens every time. When you average out everyone's idea of "essential", the end result is a fantasy program that doesn't and has never existed. That's why there are so many DAWs on the market. In order for Bitwig 1.0 to see the light of day before our hair turns gray the developers need to focus on a stable subset of core features with a somewhat distinctive workflow that works reliably well enough to differentiate itself from what's already on the market, then build up from there. Trying to cater to every power user's potential workflow right out of the gate would be an exercise in futility. For example, much is being made of the lacking multi-output VST support here, but personally I don't find it essential at all, even with Kontakt orchestral projects. I much prefer separate instances for each instrument group, so this deficiency wouldn't affect my workflow at all. Does that make my workflow superior to anyone else's? Of course not, but it just goes to show how subjective these "make or break" features can be.
Ultimately some people are going to be sorely disappointed, this is unavoidable, but not every disappointment has to be an epic fail and much music can be made regardless of a program's shortcomings. One of my favorite music applications, Propellerhead Reason, has numerous limitations and yet I spend a large percentage of my music time in it. Why? Because I simply find composing and creative sound design more fun and inspiring in that environment than anywhere else. Bitwig will probably be exactly the same way for many people... just not Theo.

I mean, I'm just trying to understand it, there are no longer any preconceived attitudes or opinions.
HOWEVER, I'm absolutely within all tolerable rights to voice that I like this or don't like that. And, so is anyone else.
Anyways, I had started to follow this thread with interest on many levels....if it's going to be all about a pissing contest again, let me know......I'll just not view any longer.

So if it is released will ableton sue the company? For example, if Presonus deveoped another Cubase whose color is just different from the original Cubase, Yamaha might have took an action.

Lol no pissing contest is resolved I think. Of course you can voice your reasons for not buying into bw.
The flare up is all gone, now we're all best friends ever
When the demo comes out I'll do a song from start to finish in it, then see what I think then.

This has been brought up, I don't think so though now. Bitwig does things live doesn't, live does things bitwig doesn't. I don't know why Mods have done nothing about the user saying "** is shit" thing this time. When I said something like "Logic is shit" they instantly warned me. Probably because he has over 170000 posts, or it's Bitwig not Logic. I had to look that one up as we don't use that here, but since personal abuse is against the rules of kvr, you are not welcome here. Please go away. Mod reported. Try to behave and respect the forum.
"mod reported"!!!?? go for gold champ
No, it was fine until you started with your rude and abusive posts. Maybe someday you will be honest to look at why you are at the center of so many thread conflicts.
Even if Bitwig has made bad software, that is no excuse for your attacks. But that is what abusive personalities do. They find various rationalizations to justify their own abusive actions towards others. And then they have every excuse why it is someone elses fault.

No, it's more like, just because Bitwig doesn't have a built-in notation editor, that doesn't mean it sucks or the sky is falling.hibidy wrote:Are we going "there" again? It's going to lead to BH if we are. (probably me

I don't know, but I'm guessing not. If they're aiming at the Ableton market then it's pretty likely they'll skip this kind of old fashioned tomfoolery.TheoM wrote:Does it have an event list?
What I'm most curious about though is if Bitwig will introduce some new approaches to music making workflow that I haven't seen before. I think that's where we're going to be seeing the most innovation in the future.

This is true, I understand. But not having mulit outs for vst's is kinda a big deal.Tronam wrote:No, it's more like, just because Bitwig doesn't have a built-in notation editor, that doesn't mean it sucks or the sky is falling.hibidy wrote:Are we going "there" again? Oh, I dunno. I think that it's ok to voice displeasure over certain things, after all, it IS a forum and not everyone will agree.
I think (and part of it was my fault) this thread has gotten to where it's mostly pretty damn good, let's try and keep it that way other than ragging, because everyone is different.
There are some things that are exciting, there are some things that are kinda WTF, we'll see what the finished product is (if there ever is one
