Have you found your perfect setup yet?

I mean after spending so much time testing out every plugin you hear about on KVR, do you think you found a reliable setup that covers all your needs nicely?

For myself I think yes, and I am quite relieved that it won't cost me an arm and a leg to buy it. It's funny when i started out I used to think you needed every friggin plugin that did something a little bit differently ...

Like i think if i could go back and start over i would have done everything differently and with a way different mindset than i did then. Also I am finding that in the end it's not the plugin that will make or break a track it's really the artist behind the tools. So definitely stock up on as much info and education as you can about production!

What about you? would you go back and do things differently too?

I bought a handful of things I don't use. I think the 'earlier mindset' you mention there is a function of KVR browsing. For instance when IKMM had this one spectacular group buy one of the things I bought was 'Classic Clipper', seeing that type of tool talked about a lot and at the time I didn't have much experience. Apparently that serves an approach (and a sound) I don't go for and even if I did there are other avenues to it that make it more or less redundant.

There are some orchestral things I would spend money on today but these get into large dollar amounts. I made a couple of mistakes, sure. My setup is very robust however and very suitable for me.

Yeah, I went through that phase too. Really start to feel the pinch when you start doing it in hardware as well..
Thankfully I'm over that. Happy with Cubase 5, Live 9 and a handful of synths (Z2, Alchemy, Reaktor, Imp2) plus the dozen hardware synths I don't even have hooked up at the moment.
