Ladies and Gentlemen, the Live 4 announcement is up on www.ableton.com and it promises to do some amazing things with midi along with hosting VST or Audio Units (Mac OS X only) plug-in instruments :D  :D (lots to see there -- you may need to refresh your browser)

    :o :o :-o :-o :P :P

Oh amn oh man oh man...they seem to have done it all !!!!!!!

Post

oh shit..VSTi support..Reason's gonna take a hit on that one..unless they have something up THIER sleeve as well..

ok, I don't wanna start another Reason clusterfuck.

Live 4 looks crazy good!

Post

Looks really great.. Not alot of info on the new piano roll though. If its up to par Live will be just about unbeatable.

I just bought Live 3 so I get 4 for 50$!! :D

Not just VSTi support, it will send and receive MID to external gear as well!! :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o

If the MIDI sequencing capability of Live 4 is at any level of decency, then everybody's finished! kaput! done with!

Sounds like they fixed the mac version as far as DSP goes, that's good.

If that supports vst's as well as Cubase then I know what I want this summer :)

Yummie, gonna try the demo now

No reason it shouldnt ! They were fist to properly host Mach-O... I've had better stability in Vst's in Live then my other apps (too many to list) ...Oh the wasted money, the wasted effort - oh well education...... Gotta go change my pants again
 :P :o  :-o :D   :-o   :P :D :o

Live 4 really puts a new spin on all the softsynth workstation progs (P5, Reason, Orion, etc.). If they can make VSTi play live without hick-ups, then it will make the guys like Sonar, Logic and Cubase seem bloated. I love my Cakewalk, but Live 4 might have it and eat it too :)

A public beta is promised just around the corner. :D

Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

And this is announced just when I was starting to get cozy in Orion Platinum...Oh well, one more sequencer to learn :help:

honestly though, this is the biggest hit the industry
will have taken if Live succeeds and there is no reason to believe that it won't. the folks at ableton know their shit and more importantly how things should be implemented, Now it will simply 'just make sense' to have live whether you use it for playing out or just in the studio.....frankly I'm wondering what will the other manufacturers do?
as it is Live has taken quite a bite out of Logic, cubase, sonar, and digital performer and actualy it's been the smaller apps like fruity loops that have been competing or ended up as great combinations with Live, but now Live will not need them anymore. as a computer musician Live will be the most logical investment across the platforms. it already is.

Honestly! What's the big deal?

I guess I'll have to wait for the new demo. Sitting here messing with the Live 3 demo I can't imagine wasting my money on it. Give me time. Maybe I'll start liking it when I can demo 4.

Not to mention what it's going to do for breathing new life into hardware synths. With Live 4 playing to eternal hardware synths, it's going to be the perfect combination for soft and hard synths playing live together. What else will you need? Can you say Karma killer
