Haha I like that joke.
Even though Im not taking part in the competition I am enjoying watching the ongoing interaction between developer and users. Its fantastic to see such quick responses and a credit to you especially as its a freebie, you don't see that from some of the big noises who charge for their products ( I only said some )

I cannot get any of the beta versions to behave (both 64 and 32 bit) - the timing is all over the place in both Energy XT and Podium.
I will have to skip this months contest - but hopefully next months OSC will be all about bells and chimes
Cheers

This synth is really nice, played around with it for a bit this afternoon and I already have about 2 minutes worth of...err.. 'music'...
Now all that's needed is some inspiration to try and make it somewhat coherent and finish it, see if I can extend this streak
BTW no stability problems here, though I'm using Renoise (which it was designed for iirc)...

Now that I've just submitted my track for OSC, here's some feedback:
THE GOOD: (surprisingly) outstanding low CPU consumption
17 instances and barely reaching 30% - wow
There is also a lot of potential in this synth, both in terms of features and sound.
THE BAD: all that potential I've mentioned previously needs a bit more polishing: the knobs are a nightmare to work with (very erratic behaviour, with values going up and down and so difficult to reach 0), the effects could be improved a bit (they tend to sound a bit mushy & undefined), and for the love of God, please fix the factory preset list (some sounds can still make the synth crash and overall it needs some TLC: for ex some presets are labelled as "bass" and they're lead sounds, and vice versa, and they should be grouped, not scattered all over the list). Last, but not least: can you please change the name of the DLL from "vst_tf3" to "Tunefish 3" or whatever?
I hate when I see weird acronyms in my VSTi list
Thanks
Overall, it's been fun working with Tunefish and I'm looking forward to the final version
Kudos again for all the effort put into making the synth stable

I don't know about the knobs, but I think it's a bit hard to grab the spline oscillator's dots.idfpower wrote:the knobs are a nightmare to work with (...) some sounds can still make the synth crash. I suppose it would be useful to point which sounds cause a crash? For me, I tried all the standard patches, applying formant to them, and haven't experienced any trouble.
As for the dll name, it should be fine to simply rename it, but check your DAW's options; perhaps there is some preference for displaying the VSTs with their "Instrument name" or their "DLL file name"; I have tons of VSTs with bizarre names but Reaper lists them correctly (as in Tunefish v3).

It does not work on my win 8 sonar x2 daw. Hey guys when your picking out a synth it might be nice to pick one that works on most peoples computers. I can get all the synthscience stuff to work and prodigious would serve to create a lot of cool music.

Guys don't forget that Tunefish 2 can also be used, not just Tunefish 3. So far when giving feedback it's not clear if you refer to both or just one, and if just one, which is it?

For example "Lead, short" - when messing with different settings in Modulation Matrix. It stops making any sound after a few spins.Kondarivan wrote:I suppose it would be useful to point which sounds cause a crash? As for the dll, initially I renamed both the dll and the programs folder and it wouldn't recognise its factory bank. Now I changed only the name of the dll and it works
For the record, I'm using FL Studio 9 as DAW and Tunefish 3 (the latest beta).

Hi Payne_bc,
Had a windows blue screen crash last night while twidding the harmonic and scale dials think the harmonic was the last, have the crash dump file if you need it payne. You should be able to load it up in the visual studio and see the callstack, I'm guessing 2008 as at home I ony have 2010/2012 and it wanted an earlier version. Let me know if you want it and I will pm it too you.
Getting some really nice sounds, though all the save doesn't seem imho intuative(management stuff I figuired out), but not saving current changes to a new sound prog. instead of overwriting the current.
As regarding the dll naming, reaper works fine as Im pretty sure because it displays and filters based on the vst vendor info and possible some of the other DAWs don't.

Good fun this synth. Is there a way to get it to respond to pitch bend? I can see there is a mod source called wheel, but cant seem to get it to work.

I'll try to get one last round of fixes on the way this weekend.

Well, I have had this month a lot of work too
!,
I have think that I would finish something, but I will travel next week and so I won't be able to finish my entry...
But I will upload my patches for tunefish (3) soon, so you could use them!...
Tune fish is a great synth!, and I can't wait to test tunefish (4)!...
