Aw, don't beat yourself up. You did make it clear that things could change.

Post

Like I said, I can't keep up. I have no idea whatsoever to be able to view/participate in this thread w/o breaking "someones" rules. Can't do cat pics......check. Can't complain about how long/what's missing, check. Can't complain about anything, check.

I should stop looking. But there is some good stuff (and maybe even a few lolzes here and there) but I can't keep up with the rules of engagement.

Dude... don't try to figure it out... that leads to headaches... hehehe

Just write what you want when you want and it will all happen as it happens

While your point is valid, I don't think that there is any point in speculating about features that aren't present in software that isn't finished. I'm more than happy to comment about what is in the current beta but I simply don't want to comment about stuff that "isn't there".
Those things come from themselves to some extent. When people try to copy someone's idea or design they tend to get harsh criticism. Bitwig's whole idea and design are coming from Live & their Feature wishlist forum.

can anyone tell me if BWS will have the cubase iC Air ability? this is something i just can't make music without.

Hehe.. That's right, and will it have Bitwig Studio Connect Pro to jam with other musicians at any point on the globe (I can't make tracks all by myself) This will surely change everything, I can have others make the music, while all I have to do is hit record. :hihi:

for its own devices, yes.

For me forums are a very interesting field to learn about communication and this thread somehow even more so.

You can clearly see how everybody (me included) has different "triggers" that make him/her go off or stop.

hibidy just told us he doesn't understand the rules since they seem to change all the time. Which I found a very interesting observation.

Of course there are not really any such rules in a forum where nobody has any "right" to anything as long as everybody stays inside the overall parameters of KVR.

But in this thread there are a bunch of different people with totally different expectations, interests and life histories, totally different cultures. Add the language barrier and you get a lot of variety.
So what may seem totally normal to one person triggers somebody else into a fit.

So while there are no rules, it's like in RL - you need a certain cooperation which you don't get if you annoy people too much.
So if somebody DEMANDS answers - that is a trigger I personally have - I don't want to answer. Simple as that. Works in RL too.

But there is a lot of other variables to it.
At one point there was the question "what about audio".
I simply didn't know what to answer to that. BWS does all I expect to do in a non-destructive host.
I guess my personal demands are very low in this area compared to others and it's not really my main interest, so I simply wouldn't know what to talk about without more specific questions.

But that is not a rule, it's simply part of our differences.

Same with the current discussion about sidechaining. I used that maybe 5 times in my life but it is so totally off my radar that I can't comment on it with any relevance. When thinking about it, I couldn't even say if I have any sidechainable VSTs...

And that applies to many things and all of us.
Lawrence said in one post he dismissed Orion since you can't tab through tracks - something I never ever did.

At the same time, jeffh, who actually codes his own host, pydaw, was fascinated that somebody would see the lack of Midi-VSTs as totally critical where he hardly knew that something like that even existed.

And somebody like Theo, with his very strong, volatile, emotional and impulsive reactions drives a lot of us up a tree in seconds, but when I read WHY he even bothers to check on BWS, that he actually had the dream to replace all his current hosts with it, I somehow feel different.
I shared this dream and it turned out it will not be fulfilled for me either.

A lot of his hard statements make us angry because a part of us agrees, even if the mode of delivery isn't helpful.
Of course it would be great to have all these features (well, some of them at least ;-) ).

So when we argue about it, in a way we argue against our own wishes and hopes which turns the whole thing into those long runs of pretty pointless "how many angels fit on a pinpoint"-like dead ends.

I have Theo muted for a long time, not because I hate all he says, but to remind me that it may be loaded, that I may react very strongly to his posts and need a reminder NOT to react as I normally would.
KVR doesn't have better provisions for dealing with persons that affect you strongly. Somehow Forum-Software-Developers seem mostly unaware that there is a need to deal with such things.

It would be great to be able to "tag" people to remind oneself that with this person you once got into a fight and may tread lightly in the future around them, and that person is somebody worth listening to since he may bring good points into a discussion.

Of course, some names you remember, but some you don't since they aren't so often on threads you read.

I found it for instance interesting that somebody I muted in one thread where he acted like a raving lunatic, never acted like that in any other thread, so after a while I unmuted him, since it doesn't seem to be his normal self.

Somebody else may have muted me since he hates long posts and those philosophical rumblings... ;-)

So again, what we are is a bunch of very different people, having totally different interests in Music/Sound, very different workstyles, come from different Hosts, are of widely different ages, lead totally different lifes, may be in pain of the body or mind, may be poor or wealthy ...

In a way this is so banal that it's almost embarrassing to mention.
But when you look how we act and re-act, it is clear that we are totally unaware of it most of the time.

I wish everybody a good day! :-)

Cheers,

Tom

Theo - I don't think I read the same post as you did in Thomas's post.

Sorry, but I got from it he better understands you and this community because of all the differences in people.

I didn't get at all an intent to be derogatory or belittling of any body.

Happy Musiking!

EDIT: I wanted to add that I applaud Thomas for his courage to make his post of his observations about the diversity of the people here at KVR.

Ok, not bring a flame war back from the dead but (paraphrased):
Mark my words, Bitwig will fail
We will just have to wait and see I guess. Along with this:
PS, no way it will be released this year, that's just more Bitwig BS
And if you're correct then I suppose you can put that feather in your cap, and if not, maybe it will be proof that you were being cynical.
