Even though I really love iOS and its great I was wanting to see something different from the iPad Pro.

I was seriously considering a Windows 8 tablet to use Reason 7 with as I looked at a youtube video earlier this week and the guy on the video tested Reason on a touch screen Windows 8 tablet and it worked perfect but only through single touch. Even in single touch I still find that appealing.
I'd bet my Curve2 license (I love Curve2) that Propellerhead have plans to bring Reason to the iPad. It's clear that they''ve already started programming parts of Reason for iOS, as they've released Thor as an app, which, though it has an interface more appropriate for an iPad, and it obviously lacks 'back panel' routing, is essentially the same thing as the version in Reason. My guess is that they're waiting for Apple to release an iPad with a fast enough processor, because Propellerhead have made it pretty damn clear that they can do it, and want to.
Actually, I'd bet Propellerhead already have Reason fully running in the Mac iOS emulator. Perhaps channelling some of the Rack Extension revenue into paying for the iOS GUI redesign (designers/programmers).
Sounds good. Of course Reason v1 and v2 could probably work on the iPad Air with its A7 chip and 1GB RAM as I remember Reason v1 and v2 ran good on my old Pentium 2 computer with just 64mb RAM. I'd settle for a V1 or V2 version of Reason now for the iPad Air until they release a future version of Reason for a future iPad running iOS.

I disagree

It's fine doing that with Ipads and iPhones because the fools that buy them will only ever share selfies on Facebook or play Candy Crush.

When you label something 'Pro' and (likely) charge well over $1000 for the privilege you better make sure you don't piss off the target market.
iCloud Pro ! ;)
seriously though, I agree, and hope that they have a strategy that provides a solution for any so-called pro market with regards to iOS devices. I can certainly imagine at least one Thunderbolt port, and can't imagine them coming up with a satisfactory alternative to USB for the current market, so I'm not sure how they can avoid having at least one of those ports for the first generation (if of course this so-called iPad Pro bomb is indeed going to be dropped - I think likely, at some point anyway).
ON THE OTHER HAND, Thunderbolt and USB ports on pro iOS devices could bring up all sorts of issues which I know nothing about. However, I can IMAGINE that the iOS SDK would need to offer different options related to controlling the underlying hardware architecture, and as we all know Apple is well, you know...

Hey :) just feel I should emphasize ... My comments were all GUESSES based on watching the market on a daily basis, using iOS from the early days, following Apple for 25 years, buying crap-loads of apps, testing them, deleting the crap, running as many of the good ones on my iPad at the same time as I can, and having a sometimes excessively over-active imagination ;) I am pretty good at guessing where things are going sometimes, but I'm crap at predicting WHEN things will arrive, and really, I have zero inside information.

FOR EXAMPLE:

I live in Toronto and strongly believed (guessed) that Rob Ford (our mayor) was a slime-ball from day-one of seeing and hearing him talk. Of course, others believed similarly, as I'm sure others believe Propellerhead have plans to release Reason for iOS. Anyway, turns out, yes, he is one.

On the other hand, I believed an iOS or mobile version of KVR was surely to debut by now, but well, here I am zooming and pinching away

Post

btw, I have no idea whatsoever whether a mobile or app version of KVR is in the works or planned. I suspect there may be an issue regarding the matter of support for advertisements, but I really know nothing on this subject. There's how many people maintaining, and developing the KVRAudio website? One? (Ben?) 2, 3, 4? And then doesn't some other company own this site? Or is that in the past? Muse? And then who's in charge of overseeing advertising and all that that entails? and how are decisions made regarding the direction of KVRAudio? By Ben? Jointly between different people over a painstaking period of deliberation, debate, and/or strategy development? Anyway, just trying to emphasize that a) I know nothing, and b) I actually greatly appreciate that KVRAudio exists and is in the form that it is (even though I'd love to see a mobile version worked out ;) ) , because things are often not as simple as they may appear, especially when there are multiple interested parties involved and well... when money is involved ;)

back on the topic of a rumored iPad Pro with an i7 processor possibly arriving in 2014; surely AudioUnit plugin support can't be far behind that no? Essentially I'm dreaming of using Bidule on my iPad (without the lag of using AirDisplay, and without my laptop of course) and kinda salivating (gross and sad; I know).

If it had NO THUNDER BOLT, NO USB, and NO FLASH PORT, BUT would let me run the Audio Unit version of Bidule, I'd be all over it.

Don't hold your breath. It will more likely be a bigger iPad, with little more added. Apple has been repackaging the same product over and over, with the iPod, the iPhone and iPad, why would they change the game now? While there are suckers that give them their money, they will squeeze every penny out of their pockets.

I love it. You do realize while you sit and stew on your Microsoft tablet inadequacies and compose your iPad user insults, that the rest of us iPad users are actually composing music.

Personally have no interest in a bigger tablet. This (current ipad) is Goldielocks size. Just right.

Wow, you live in a rather small world, apparently, since you sum it up to Apple vs Microsoft. It's so eighties 8)
Guess what? Microsoft is no longer the evil, Apple took it's place now.

Hahaha. So you think you are fighting evil with all your iPad hate stubbornness?

Sorry to disappoint, but Microsoft + Apple get along quite nicely in my world. I'm not close-minded to useful tools just because of branding.

Well, as an iPad user since the iPad2 came out and someone who uses it for all manner of purposes - as a wonderfully customizable MIDI controller (using Lemur), as a bloody perfect sequencer for my Pro One analog synth ( using the spectacular Arpeggionome Pro and a Kenton MIDI to CV converter), as a brilliant standalone touch-controlled instrument (using the ingenious Chordion) as a perfect improvising tool for video playback control in live situations (Beatsurfing controlling ImxIntel on my Mac), as the host for the best, most customizable yoga timer on the market (Seconds Pro), as a main tool for creative video and image capture ( iMotion HD, Liquid Lens, +loop, Cambox ) , as an fantastic assistive communication device to suggest to many people I encounter working in the disability field (dasher), as the platform which runs the wildly flexible, ingenious samplers I use frequently and that inspire friends to jump in and make music with me even though they don't normally do that kind of thing (samplr, soundyeah, loopy) and as a platform which seems to inspire creative app developers to come out with new exciting approaches to interactive instrument, effect, and generative music design on a seemingly weekly basis (gliss, seekbeats, VirtualANS, sonicZoom, Impaktor, GlitchMachine, Feed, Spectrum Gen, Donut, BitWiz, NoiseMachine, StepPolyArp, ChordPolyPad, Poly, SoundPrism, Attractor,, iDensity, SoundyThingie, WOPR, nanoloop, and wravend to offer my short-list) - I feel like I'm participating in using and encouraging (by sharing my experiences with others, including developers) the further development of technology that is at the bleeding edge of a resurgence and wholey new embracement of creative music and sound design and that has people, including myself tying the tools, process, and output of music creation together to a degree and in manners we've never experienced before. So I don't really feel like a sucker.

Silly from the perspective of how they take advantage of people's ignorance. Absolute genius from the perspective of marketing. Half empty, half full... ;)
By interesting coincidence, this on-topic debatehas come up...

User upgradable memory wouldn't fit into the current paradigm. I'd buy a larger ipad based solely on screen real estate. If it had thunderbolt compatibility it would far surpass my expectations.

Just a guess, but I imagine they've just got a huge number of musicians (that like using iOS) excited by a much larger screen, and the ability to interact with more than one app at a time,
AND
totally disappointed them when they realized the haptic feedback technology found in the new iPhones and Apple Watch isn't part of the package.

What musician at all interested in using an iPad as an expressive musical instrument would drop big bucks on this version of the iPad Pro when it's likely that a future version will have the haptic feedback technology found in the newly announced iPhones?

I mean, I was all over the idea of a bigger screen, but it's like Apple announced the iPad Pro and at the same time literally showed us how much better the next version will be.

Yeah agree, I was hoping for this to come true. Do you think the iPhone will feature some drum pad apps using 3D Touch?
