I don't want to come across snippity but what are you giving us to go on?
Based upon THIS scenario I guess I would consider fades....maybe fade in the loop, fade out the loop while beat fades in.
Dunno.....what strikes you LBensley? How do YOU want it to sound? That's the whole artistry of music....creating how YOU want it to sound.
The only other thing I can suggest is to listen to some songs and pull from the experience. You will be surprised how creativity happens when you listen to others works.
Again, not meant to sound uppity or anything and truly HTH's.
Happy Musiking!

I want a kind of soul sample then the beat changes and it's quite a hard hitting trap kinda beat. I want it to hit the listeners with a surprise but I don't want it to be such a sharp change it doesn't sound 'professional'.dsan@mail.com wrote:I don't want to come across snippity but what are you giving us to go on?

dsan is right, I'll just reinforce a couple of things with a bit more detail.
An audio example of what you're working on would make this easier. Maybe post the track as a work in progress on Soundcloud and give us a link.
But there are lots of ways to do this - fade in the trap beat, fade in just part of the trap beat (maybe just hi-hats for example) with some effects on it to make them sound lo-fi and more like the soul sample, chop up the sample towards the end to let the listener know that it's breaking up and something else is about to happen, or just cut out the last quarter-note or so of the sample so there's a bit of silence before the trap beat hits. Some of those make the transition smoother, others more abrupt but in an interesting way. Ask yourself which appeals to you and why.
Listen to music with lots of different transitions - maybe some EDM, specifically vocal house with more retro-style vocals. Then try to apply those ideas to trap.
