What exactly are you looking at? There are 3 banks of rises each with 24 sounds. That's 72 basic sounds to start with. Then each bank has multiple durations available, with and without tails. Too many of them are cymbal based for my liking but still, there's a helluva lot more than 3 rises.

And not enough instruments?

Fundamentals = 53
Pads simple = 32
Pads complex = 57
Pulses = 54
Swells = 22
Plucked = 21
ReTron = 32
Simple = 35 (long and short releases of each)
Sling = 30
Sound design = 23
Stutter one shots = 32
Aggressive = 24
Percussive = 25

And then once you have an instrument open you can change the source sample for each of the two layers so there is a huge range of combos available.

I do think being able to import your own samples would be an excellent feature. Pity about that.

I wasnt counting the different lengths of the rises as actual "different" rises. And yeah when I first got it I didnt spend that much time in rises, and they all sounded pretty similar so I didn't even bother with going through them all.

It would've been too complicated because depending on instrument type, it's not a simple drop-in of a sample or samples... There are quite specific procedures that the user would have to do, and there's a lot of margin for error. Thus we didn't include that possibility.

Thanks ED. I have no doubt it would be challenging to implement. Just wishful thinking! I'm more than happy with REV so far.

I think I was just not ready to get into it fully after installing it. No real 'instant gratification' and I am missing the key element to make the rises and loops function (and not ready to sit down with the PDF to find out how yet). My first impressions of the samples are probably prejudiced and what I heard reminded me of Magix Independence samples (which do nothing for me).

So I have other things to do right now and I'm 'shelving it' for now until I can give it the approproate time with a fresh look later.

But whatever anyone posts on getting into this with tips and tricks I might be able to catch here and would read when I can.

Maybe if ED starts a new thread in the Samples forum for "Getting more out of Rev." I won't miss too much.

Wow! Total opposite for me (and a majority of users outside of the KVRaudio universe). I bought REV the day it was released and it was INSTANT gratification. I don't understand what "I am missing the key element to make the rises and loops function" means. :? "Magix Independence samples" What??? Different strokes for different folks I guess. :?

Sorry, but I don't have time to start in-depth threads about getting the most out of Rev, or any other particular library that I scripted (no hard feelings).

In the end, everybody is going to use it differently. The features and sounds are in there. Shape them however you see fit for your compositions. That's all there is to it.

+1. I penned the SCOREcast review that EvilDragon linked above. Went in as a total cynic, and pretty much instantly was converted. Massive, diverse and incredibly quick to manipulate and edit, a real quality product that has arrived fully formed.

Guy, thanks for the splendid review. Pretty much the best kind of review anyone could ever wish for - and knowing you from here and VI-C, I know it's not a pretend or paid thing.

EDIT: Edit your post a bit, wrong person quoted there ;)

This has got to be the weirdest thing. Bought yesterday, so far untried, come to forum asking for opinions rather than try, don't bother scrolling up to see that many have already been expressed. Bizarre.

There's a history here. Don't engage.

I already know a roof where I'd sit on.
Once it gets a new GUI we should totally do this. Like a waves promo ad. :D

Heck, we could start a fund and have it come up on YouTube and everything.
