Just got my first iPad Air (after using iPod touch to get used to ios).
I mainly use guitars sims and Garageband but I like to play synth stuff every now and then. Recommend decent synths - I started playing in early 70's so Moog, Oberheim etc. are my favorites. Audiobus or inter app compatible.

i would suggest getting audiobus - not a synth but a way to connect synths to DAWs. I used Auria as a DAW.
Synths I use a lot
* Nave
* animoog
* cube synth
* magelian
* sunrizer
* thor

Arctic prosynth is another one. You will definitely need audiobus if you wanna make full use of synths , effects samplers and daws.
Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

I recommend Sunrizer, cheap and great presets.

Already mentioned, but:
iMini for Minimoog
iSem for Oberheim
My favorite is Alchemy Mobile. The initial purchase is free, so you can check it out for no cost. Signing up (free) gives you some more sounds. From there, you can decide if the Pro version will be useful to you.
