There is also mention of a shift in focus, to performance enhancements and VST stuff. Sounds good to me. :)

Are you talking about THIS arp?
dom@bitwig wrote: Shhhht! We're just finishing the next beta milestone over here at the lab and among other things, it includes our arpeggiator and also deals with the midi output of VSTs. There won't be extensive routing options between tracks etc. for this in version 1.0, as it just passes the note output on to the next device, but obviously there are already a lot of nice ideas for upcoming versions in the drawer, just waiting to be implemented... :tu:

Cheers,
Dom
I guess what I'm really asking is: Has the new beta build Dom was talking about been released?

Just playing with the arp now. One of the nice features is the addition of Note Effects to the poly synth device. This makes it possible to choose a scale + root note, and then filter out notes that don't belong in the scale (or include them if you prefer ...).

The arp combined with the note filter + transpose device makes it really easy to create great sounding sequences.

Peace,
Andy.

Sigh...
I'm using Live 9.1 rite now and while its nice, The dual screen setup in some ways highlights how session and arranger screens aren't that closely integrated in live.

Live 9.1 will keep me busy for now but I cant wait for the shinny new "toy" that is Bitwig. *winks as TheoM*

So beta 7 is out now? That didn't take that long.

How exactly does the arp work? It lets you divide a note or chord up into beats like a normal arp, right? So what are those faders for? So that you can create a velocity pattern? And you can add swing it seems? And whats that flying v button in the bottom?

Sorry if that's too many questions, but it looks pretty cool. While we can debate over whether they are timely or not it really seems that when they do do something they do it right.

This is Bitwig Beta 8.

The arp sliders are for setting the gate length and velocity. Arp notes are (obviously) determined by what notes are triggered from the piano roll or keyboard, but there are plenty of options (using built in devices) for modifying the notes as outlined in previous post.

Peace,
Andy.

Ok, cool thanks. So its like a normal arp but you can also sequence velocity and gate length like I thought. Nice.

Any other goodies? :D

We'll see release count down clock plugin?

Post

Nice thanks for the info.

The more I see it the more it seems like a complete system, more like instrument than a DAW to be honest and I love it.

Meaning that we will only lack VST for advanced synths (like alchemy) and emulations.

Not sure if you're aware, but other DAWs currently exist.

Where would the Stones, Beatles, Elvis etc be if they were constantly waiting for the next thing.
Just use what you have available at the moment. And when BW arrives, investigate that then.

150 odd pages of faffing about, when you all could be doing something constructive.
Well, to be fair, just because someone posts here doesn't mean that in between they are not doing something constructive.

Bitwig is part info/part lolz/part heartache :hihi:

Live and studio one do fairly well for me but this is my hobby. I like new things and toys and so on. So I don't know about faffing about. I think if you look at things it's a very peculiar situation.

Oh, it's always been that way. Used to be WAY more brutal.

There's a new device called "Replacer". It has a threshold control combined with a generator object.

When the input signal rises over the threshold, the specified note + velocity is used to triggered the instrument (generator). So for example, with a 4x4 kick pattern, it is possible to replace the kick with a tom (or a synth note ...) in real time. With more complex rhythmic sounds this will be very useful.

Andy.

Another great thing is that the newly introduced ARPeggiator has a chord mode!
