Just played it again today. At this point, it is my sample player of choice. Above Dimension and even more usable than Kontakt (Although I prefer the percussion in Kontakt and Battery for direct playing).
more usable.. ..because it have no scripting and all the other fine things kontakt have i guess?

honestly, to call a sample player more usable then a monster like kontakt shows me that you cant be taken serious in this.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

That's funny I would think KVR would be your first stop, how many times have you wrecked us with the never ending GROUP BUY threads trying to make a coin off of us? lol

Respect the pimping though.

They posted this close-up on Twitter. I doubt a sampler would have an Input knob.

Meh. We're damned if we do, damned if we don't there. "Why didn't I hear about this sale?" has been heard, and that's specific information. We should really ONLY post product releases and announcements here - edit: and promos since that was the example I just used :) [end edit], and leave all of the conjecture to you all. That's what I meant. But however you like to read it is fine. Keeps the thread bumped.

I'm sure I will like Kontakt better in and of itself once I find a set of sounds that weren't set up to be an 'Action' set or somehow is as good as the hype they sold me on when I bought it. I do have about three sets that are pretty good, (all unlicensed by Kontakt) and the drums are solid enough. I find the GUI okay but there are things that are big that don't need to be and things that are small that really need to be bigger. I do find the sampling of those libraries to be rock solid and I'm maintaining a modicum of faith that eventually I will find what I'm looking for with Kontakt, but to date it has been mostly an overbloated disappointment. Libraries are cool enough for what they are, but I have yet to find a single use for the licensed ones. So SampleTank has been better for me, simple to use with no real learning curve. All three of the sample players I mentioned are great (Did I mention Aria as a fourth?) And there are things I love and hate about each one of them. It's not a question of which is the absolute best, (since that's a fool's premise); but of which one does the job for me the majority of the time for now. And I've noticed it has been Sampletank/MSO & Aria/GIO/GWI much more often. That's all.

But really, this thread was suppose to be just a simple countdown.

How many days until 2014?

Totally disagree, BBFG... At the end of the day, a sampler is only as good as the sounds you can get out of it. For orchestral composition especially, the sounds in Sampletank2 and Miroslav are second to none.

The technology driving those sounds is maddeningly ancient, but once that is rectified in ST3, ST3 could dominate in the lower-price-range symphonic composition market.

Post

second to none? really? don't get me wrong, i love Miroslav sounds, but second to none??? don't be ridiculous.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Would would you say in <$300 range is better? The "expr" patches for woodwinds in Miroslav are unmatched! And once it becomes possible to keyswitch articulations, the brass instruments will get a lot more use as well.

that is the bottom line... right?

i.e. keeping the thread bumping...

i could see this marketing tactic working... more individuals reading this thread... more individuals become interested in Sampletank 3... and if a certain percentage of these individuals that became interested become customers...

its worth it!!!

COOL!!!

this is getting out of hand.
