I'm not really sure what you're disagreeing with since I don't believe that any of them are absolute as sample players and as I said throughout, SampleTank has filled the need more often than the others. I refrain from calling it first or second as I find the quality to be as good as the others and only better as it fits my needs. Kontakt has given some me specialized ethnic instruments that I like. The technology works and so I haven't seen anything maddening in them except in aesethics. But ST is the easiest layout (albeit too small) to do quick and effective layering, Aria has the best Mixer layout and effects pages IMO though. Kontakt & Dimension are definitely powerful players and most sounds are solid enough, but that doesn't mean I have use for them. Even with the installed Gold Bundle for ST that may have a cross section of needs for most things, I still find particular things I can use and things I may never use (at least directly)yevster wrote:Totally disagree, BBFG... At the end of the day, a sampler is only as good as the sounds you can get out of it. For orchestral composition especially, the sounds in Sampletank2 and Miroslav are second to none.
The technology driving those sounds is maddeningly ancient, but once that is rectified in ST3, ST3 could dominate in the lower-price-range symphonic composition market.
So if you want to go by my use of these four players, SampleTank/MSO has been number one, then Aria/GIO/GWI and then Kontakt and lastly Dimension (if at all). But the last two have been more about percussion than the first two and less about the melodic/harmonic instruments.
My best anticipation for ST3 is for the GUI, and of course, 64b is great.
So how many days are left?
