Hi all,

Just a heads-up that Google have made the latest issue of a load of magazines FREE on their new Google Play Newsstand app - and Computer Music is one of them!

So you can grab it right now on Android tablet/phone OR on your PC/Mac using Chrome browser.

1. Go to http://bit.ly/GPoffer and click the Computer Music mag.
2. "ADD" the current issue (NOT a subscription - you DON'T need to subscribe to get this free issue!). You'll need to register for a Google Wallet if you don't already have one.
3. The price will appear on your screen as £0.00, so proceed and you'll get the mag for nothing.
4. Enjoy the mag!

Then register the mag on our Vault (instructions in the mag) to get the free Eurydice CM plugin, Optiv & BTK samples, and lots more :)

The offer ends 27 November, and it's only in UK, US, Canada and Australia, as that's the only countries Google offer magazines in at the moment (ie, it's not a restriction by us).

There's more info on CM198 and the free software/samples/etc at http://bit.ly/cmu198

Great offer, thanks!

I'm hoping to get CM this year as a Christmas gift from...well, anyone (*hint*, *hint*)! I've found it has many great articles and reviews--and the giveaways are the icing on the cake!

Well, that means that 80 % of the world population don't have any chance to use this offer... :(

Sorry! Newsstand on Google Play is not available in your country yet.
We're working to bring the content you love to more countries as quickly as possible.
Please check back again soon.
Yeah, love the "new" internet sometimes! :P

I specifically clicked add single issue, got charged $0, and then I get a pop-up saying "Congratulations, you have SUBSCRIBED to CM"

?????????

I sure hope this doesn't mean this is really a free trial masquerading as a free issue. Is that the case or not?

Problem No. 2.

Vault doesn't currently list Google Play as an option for adding the magazine. Only physical, Zinio, and Apple Newsstand.

I just registered it as coming from Zinio and it worked.

The "free trial subscription" is a separate thing - this offer is not a "subscription in disguise", and is just for a free issue of CM.

I'm not sure why it's giving you that pop-up, though. It should just say it's been added to your library. If you have somehow subscribed, I believe you can just cancel it before the 30-day trial ends and you won't be charged.

I know - it's not something we have control over, unfortunately. If it was purely down to us, it'd be available everywhere possible.

What about this issue? I saw the same three choices as well.

EDIT: Never mind: I got it to work, by choosing the "Apple" option. But the pages took quite some time to download and render. Apparently, they're high-res scans. That's nice if I was planning to re-print the magazine, but for on-screen viewing on a laptop (or, worse yet, phone or tablet), it was a slow experience.

Ok, as long as I can figure out if and how I need to do that. I'll try to check and find out if it subscribed me, but I've never done anything on Play before so I'm going to have to grope around. I'll post back here when I know more.

Well, that is Google way of doing things, remember when G-mail was invitation only? :D

Just curious, does CM still come with any cut-down hosts like in the past with XT and that one issue with Samplitude and going way back CMuzys?
