Yes, Plex.
Interesting discussion about importing/exporting, folks, but you're dealing with a gentle genius; he may be implementing rather esoteric thinking into the design/implementation/execution of his new baby that would preclude I/o to software/hardware.
If I was him, a man with the benchmark implementation of his own synth concept that he has perfected during ~35 years (WaveGenerator), I wouldn't bother much or at all to export to other, much more limited synths' formats either.

Yeah, this is the same guy that brought us, hardware that, in retrospect, looked to be leading the way, and that was in the 80's...

So: he comes out with his own signature software synthesizer that is a product of decades of his certain slant on synthesis; I would expect that again: certain aspects of it would again now lead the way in software synthesizer design.

But he's somewhat of a quiet guy.

If Dave Smith or John Bowen released a software synth like WG, I would expect it to be preceded by much horn-blowing followed by pomp and circumstance. And probably woul be more expensive, since it's 'signature'.

I dunno, maybe I'm being too contrarian, but I like Dr. Palm's approach better. Nice price. Authorizations? No problem, just show me that you're the license holder, and BTW: sorry about upsetting any of you with the policy; you're right, it's been fixed.

This is a 'no brainer' purchase - for me, at least.

Only really inevitable if the chosen C/P is clearly unreasonable, amirite?

Anyway, v cool looking/sounding synth.

Palm's decision to release Plex for free shows that worries about challenge/response issues are less likely, should WaveGenerator cease being available for sale.

Not going to argue with this necessarily but it certainly isn't a fools errand contemplating the creation and importation of personal wavetables into Wavegenerator. And in a conversation i've been having with Scott Solida on another forum it appears to be possible to import waves into Wavemapper on iPad and export them as WTS to be used in Wavegenerator on iPad and VST.

I'm holding off on purchasing the plugin because Ii'm waiting on the AU version for Logic. On the iPad my favourite feature is the ability to scan through the WT with finger placement on the keyboard - not sure how this could be implemented on a desktop (though I presume it would be automatable).

One feature I just can't understand. The Arp always starts running as soom as I select a patch with an arp. I would've thought that it would be much more useful to have the arp start defult on key down, with Hold as an option.

Any ideas how to change this, in my view not very useful, behaviour?

It depends on the buttons under the Arptor. Click the one on the far right, with the downward arrow. That will give you what you want. The one to the left of that will cause the Arptor to play and hold when you play a key.
Thanks for the tip, Scot!

Anyway, that means that I have to manually reprogram all the factory arp patches and re-save them one by one, I guess.

I still don't understand what possible use anyone could have of an arp patch that starts playing as soon it's selected, and why that state has been chosen as default for the factory banks… ;-)

/Joachim
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

You will not only have to change the arp's transport setting but possibly the tempo settings of the arptor and LFOs to midi sync as well ;)

If we would have done that for the factory presets, these sounds would simply not have played at all unless the host sequencer would have been started. That might have caused a lot of confusion. Therefore they are in "demo mode" now ;)

I am as Spitfire31 not happy how the wavegenerator uses the arp function.
All other vst synths I have start playing the arp when I press the key
and stops playing when I release it as standard value. I see no reason why wavegenerator should not that. Please Mr. Palm change it. :-)

At the moment I have only the iPad version of wavegenerator.
Is it there possible that the arp only plays when I press a key?
There I found not a function to change it. There is a selection "TPlay".
But when I press a key for the first time it never stops playing.
I would be very happy for a tip.

Two other questions: Has the pc version more presets?
Will there be a demo version?

as explained above you can set the mode of the arpeggiator to do excactly that. i was also puzzled at first that the arp patches started to play directly but when i found out about the different trigger modes of the arpeggiator i thought it was quite cool because as doct has mentioned you directly get a nice impression how the patch should sound.

I'm still popping in from time to time... I'm doing well, thank you. Making music, writing articles and painting pictures when time allows or demands. :)

Hi vurt :D

Yep, always far too busy, whether I like it or not... never enough time for idle hands to do devilish work, if ya ask me!

Good to hear!

I would be definitely interested in a demo version. On the other site, I remember the days when I've owned a real wave 2.2.
That time we would not have thought a second about that price point...
