artistically ?

I've been on this journey(using LIVE and VSTs)for 6+ years and I've gotten to the point where I can produce my music with very little effort. Slamming drums into guitars, then into pads with a phat bassline, maybe add a vocal line or twelve, etc . . .

There's something else that I need to say that isn't quite here yet

I can feel it but can't explain it & can't even stop it from happening(not that I'd ever want to). I dig it but it's slightly scary 'cause I don't understand it

change is coming here

do(did) you ever feel this way ?

Ive always felt it a natural part of learning and fortuitous mistakes.

I never do the same thing or same method twice, I dont like conciously repeating myself when creating stuff.

Probably why I hate obviously formulaic or stylised music that sounds like it could be anyone.

But yes, I constantly feel on the edge of discovering/doing something great thats different.
Its difficult to put into words, maybe delusional ;)

I read this thread earlier and later today I read this interview with Mike Huckaby and I thought they were related in a sense.
MH: "What is your sound? Define the elements or attributes of the music that you are trying to create. What is your musical intent? Go even as far as to describing the type of person that you are trying to communicate your musical ideas to. Envision the environment as well. This does not need to remain fixed. This can continuously change. If you can partially define your sound, you will have greater chances of achieving it. But once you define your sound, that's when the real work comes it to play.
I'm amid a change as well. It's exciting. I'm going to try to define it and hope it puts everything in focus.

I hope I made some sense. :)

I think very often it's more that I go looking for a change. Thinking of going entirely laptop for a while and also at the back of my mind I'm thinking about maybe figuring out which instrument I might be able to play bluegrass on and learn some of it as there's a bluegrass jam session not far from me that I would join if I felt confident enough to play that style.
