Perhaps, but it would require a true master of melodramatic prognosticating pessimism at the height of their powers to pull off. Few on KVR could rise to such a challenge in a single post.Lunesis wrote:Is it possible to have all four in one post?Tronam wrote:No KVR thread is complete without conspiracy theories, doomsday scenarios, and armchair experts. So the Propellerhead's forum is down. Post in here if you normally post there.

As far as I know, they've never done anything for Black Friday.ezelkow1 wrote:So anyone know what kind of deals to expect on the props store during BF->christmas? This is the first holiday season Ive owned reason so didnt know what to expect
Last year they did a bunch of one day sales: from December 1st to December 24th or 25th, they put a few different rack extensions on sale each day.
Each rack extension was discounted 25-30%.

That's a lot of reallys, Theo. I respect your passion and insight, but you really are the absolute master of forum FUD. Why such intense interest in this anyway? Didn't you already wash your hands of all things Propellerhead a while ago?TheoM wrote:Yes seriously. Why would I write it otherwise? It's already been proven there's be no such general compromise, and I can't see other forums the world over suddenly shutting down either. it was an excuse and a way to either start fresh (and i wouldn't be surprised if they "couldn't" save previous posts and data), or eliminate the forum, IMO of course.
I really really really really REALLY hope they reopen their forum asap. Believe me on that. I want to be so wrong about this.

We're working hard on coming up with the best solution for this. We were running a quite old vBulletin version so we're looking into the best way forward.
But just to crush any rumours, there were news about an exploit and instead of waiting for more information we decided that it was best to protect our users first and then investigate the exploit properly. We definitely didn't close the forums for any other reason than that we deemed it necessary from a security perspective.
Oh and there WERE other forums shutting down, including the Defcon forums, and they generally know a thing or two about hacks. They're back up again now though.
I'm pretty much always available to answer questions via Twitter (@PropellerheadSW) and Facebook (Propellerhead Software) if you're wondering anything. It's always in my phone so it generally takes less time to get a reply there and I'll answer anything I'm able to.

I rest my case.TheoM wrote:What the hell is your problem all the time with me? master of FUD? Where do you even get this stuff from?
If i read a topic it has no bearing whether I am a propellerhead user or not, if i find the topic interesting for whatever reason that is my own business, and am free to make a comment on it here. Muted once and for all. Thank goodness a sigh of relief. *phew*
@ Lunesis, who gave me more grief than almost anyone there (were you the one that called me a theif and a criminal too, i can't remember that clearly though?) - anyway don't answer as i have already muted you as i want nothing to do with you after all the abuse there - you are right, i do not want you guys destroying KVR. Simple. So there's your answer Tronam, i couldn't think of anything worse than the PUF crowd coming here. I can't wait for it to be back up.
@Mattias, do you want the link to prove that there is no security hole in even the older VBulletin software? Your forum right this second has no reason to be closed whatsoever. It was a mod's mistake at macrumors, and ONLY macumors was affected. Like i said, an excuse to close the forums.
(ps when i mute, i mute, without even the smallest temptation to read the posts.. so Tronam and Lunesis you will only waste your time if you respond to me, that's just a courtesy heads up, as this is the last time we speak). Cheers
Anyway, I hope it gets resolved soon Mattias and thanks for the heads up. Enjoyed your recent Parsec tutorial, by the way.
Along more fun lines, it seems Audiorealism has been cooking up a new rack extension and is looking for beta testers.

It appears to be "an accurate emulation of a classic synth from the 80's". Is this perhaps a port of their 808/909 emulation plugin or something brand new? Interesting. You can find the beta sign up info here if interested:

Also, like I said, we didn't know exactly how big the risk was. At the time it was unclear and thus we closed it down as a pre-emptive security effort.
Since there is no big risk right right now, it's rather a question about how we bring back the forums. Like I said we're running an old version of vBulletin and this might even be a good opportunity to do some changes. This is not yet decided though so I'm afraid I can't really say more than that—I simply don't know more than that.

I don't think the current RE SDK support patterns or pattern lanes so if it is an 808/909 emulation it is the drum sections only, no sequencer (Correct me if I'm wrong). Which I must say I (personally) don't find very exciting. Can't think of a single setting in any of the drum sounds from the original HW that isn't available as a sample. A 106 or 101 is more preferable, although maybe emulated too many times over the years to be very exciting. Not in Reason though, but still. Maybe a more exotic synth from the 80's.Tronam wrote:Anyway, I hope it gets resolved soon Mattias and thanks for the heads up. Enjoyed your recent Parsec tutorial, by the way.

Agree. This is an area where PH excel. Your tutorials and artist stories are always great and I enjoyed them way before I started using Reason. Also enjoyed your Reason 7 workshop. Good work.Anosou wrote:Thanks, glad you liked it!Tronam wrote:Anyway, I hope it gets resolved soon Mattias and thanks for the heads up. Enjoyed your recent Parsec tutorial, by the way.

Either a 101 or 106 would be welcome, although the 101 seems like the most logical progression for Audiorealism from their excellent 303 emulation. I hadn't heard about a sequencer limitation in the SDK. An RE called Tick Tick Step Sequencer does offer multi-lane pattern sequencing, but it doesn't produce any sound on its own. Is that the distinction?kae wrote: I don't think the current RE SDK support patterns or pattern lanes so if it is an 808/909 emulation it is the drum sections only, no sequencer (Correct me if I'm wrong). It doesn't support multiple patterns/banks and no pattern lanes in the sequencer. What you see is what you get. It's basically only rows of toggle buttons which states are saved in patches/song. Multiple pattern data is not.Tronam wrote:Either a 101 or 106 would be welcome, although the 101 seems like the most logical progression for Audiorealism from their excellent 303 emulation. This is hearsay so if anyone know more than me please correct me.
If it is a 106 or a 101 I hope they do something original with it. Like D16 took the 101 to the next level. I don't know how accurate it is though as I've never played with a 101. 106 on the other hand I know well.

It's always good to see Mattias communicating with us despite us giving them so much crap. Sometimes I think he's the only one working there though. I do hope they get things in order soon.. I miss all my snarky PUF pals!
