So wait, bad sales for one dev equals bad sales for all? Are you people serious? Sure he is a respected dev but respect alone does not guarantee lots of sales. A lot devs are still making REs why continue if it was so bad?stroker_ace wrote:Or maybe it was right here on these forums.IncarnateX wrote:Probably up here:Dogboy73 wrote:Where did you hear this from?!kae wrote:From what I've heard the RE sales aren't very good and this sure doesn't help.

So the Propellerhead's forum is down. Post in here if you normally post there.

You are basing this off info people found on the web? Are you absolutely sure this info is correct?TheoM wrote:Sales of propellereheads (i have no IDEA whether this includes RE or not) were bad this financial year. There was a thread discussing it, that is true. It was down massively from previous years.

Isn't that b/c the previous year was a major-point-release-year and software companies from Adobe to Zxx always do well on release years?TheoM wrote:Sales of propellereheads (i have no IDEA whether this includes RE or not) were bad this financial year. By this metric we could state that Ableton is also in trouble?
Maybe we should consider using 5 year averages instead of myopic statistical evidence that substantiates a certain viewpoint?
Anyhoo, I'm familiar with the controversy over REs and how some companies can't convert their flaghip products over to it for-whatever-reason so they just release half-assed mee-too shit that no ones too fussed about... and then call the whole thing a fail.
But the other point ppl seem to overlook is that it REs allows Propellerhead _themselves_ to be able to release new synths/products and create additiional revenue streams w/o having to be forced to bundle everything into Reason.
From this perceptive RE is a resounding win for PH.... Radical Piano, Parsec, PX7 are all top-notch wins for us IMO!
And regarding Reason vs VST -- just do what I do (and others I'm sure) and think of Reason as some kind of SuperVst and just rewire it into whatever you want -- the recording and mixing stuff they give you are freebies.
Actually, being able to insert vst effects into their mixer might not be such a bad idea and open that up to a lot more use-cases... but everything is so 'circular integrated' in Reason that I doubt it will happen... shame thou, nice mixer.

Can you maybe link to that? Wondering why a company would do that, unless it is stock exchange listed...TheoM wrote:It was public info.. not just random people at KVR.. There were links with precise figures as well. if you need proof, feel free to do a search:)

Seconded, thirded!Tronam wrote:Speaking of Antidote, Synapse really is a class act. Their approach is probably the ideal model for how to develop rack extensions. By creating a unique instrument specifically for the rack (instead of a straight port), they're not a slave to pre-existing GUI design and there isn't a feeling of duplication or redundancy, especially for people who might also own VST versions of their instruments. He's also been continually adding new features and addressing any issues that arise swiftly. It's one of the highest rated REs in the Prop shop and deservedly so.OzWozEre wrote:This thread is now an Antidote thread!
I have a feeling that Audiorealism's upcoming 80s synth emulation is going to be along similar lines and won't be a port of any of their pre-existing instruments.
I think it should win some kind of design award, I'm that impressed w/ it...
It's also soo easy to use and you get instant results -- all on a single layout page/view that even a noob like me can pretend he's a sound design wiz.
Well done Synapse Sir, well done.

Alright, will do so. It's not that i wouldn't believe what you say, it's just that i'm wondering what the reason is that a company announces that. Especially when the sales are going down, you'd most probably wouldn't want to make that more public than you have to.

I suspect there are still tons of R6 users who haven't upgraded to R7 because the workflow improvements simply weren't enough of a motivator. I've mentioned it before, but I think if they were to bundle 7.5 or 8 with one or two RE vouchers (at least from their own offerings) many previous users would make the jump.

As a competitor you mean? Kind of funny indeed. I own Orion and love Rich's synths & fx so I knew it would be premier quality extensions from them and are happy that they decided to support RE. What bugs me is that I downloaded the Antidote trial when my GF was 8 months pregnant and a couple of days after that i became dad so the month flew and I never got to play with it. So I'll have to buy it now to check it out. Now I'm just waiting to see if Rich will have a Christmas deal on his plugins. It looks gorgeous and very hands on.Tronam wrote:It's kind of funny. If you'd asked me in the past, I never would have pegged Synapse (makers of Orion) as a future premier RE developer.
Learned from my mistake I'm a lot more disciplined in demoing RE's and only test one at a time. I have therefore not tried Parsec yet, even though I'm itching for it.

Shameless plug..

Something I did with Antidote, namely some patches from NSL's Antimatter refill, and a sort of pitchy pad from Parsec. Antidote is the best thing in the shop, and will probably be for a while.
