It depends on how long out of WUP it is, specific items, and whether or not you have hit the WUP cap. We can check the specifics for your account if you would like us to. Just submit a WUP request form or PM me your Waves.com info. Also, the Renaissance Bass should come with a year of free WUP like all Waves products, so you won't have to worry about updating it until next Black Friday.Compyfox wrote:aldrichgo4 wrote:We have had a few folks ask us about this at Waves Universe. You can only get the free Ren Bass from Waves site, but we are able to offer the other specials.
Gary, could you answer the WUP question?
Assuming that a lot of people will jump on this deal (tempting for me as well) - what will the WUP just for this plugin be?
I never understood the WUP pricing system.
That answers one question.
Am I right of the assumption (still, hopefully) that dot-updates are usually free of charge, but major engine updates (for example from Engine v8 to v9) involve WUP?
I have something like that in the back of my head. Could have changed by now. (read: a long time ago)

That is correct. The spot fixes to plugins will be provided, but as long as you are under WUP at the time a new version is released you should be able to update for free.Compyfox wrote: That answers one question.

So let's assume I'm on virtually 9.3 and Waves releases 9.4 - but my WUP ran out. I have to renew it in order to get .4? Or is that the so called "spot" update?
Or is it only possible to get free updaes for v9.3.1 to v9.3.9 if the release cycle is (say) 2-3 years but the WUP is only 1 year?
The Waves FAQ's are a bit crazy written, I have to admit that. Just to make things clear to interested parties.

Yes, their explanation of the WUP is a little bit confusing. Even to us dealers. I believe that updating from v9.0 to v9.3 is free, with bug fixes being covered under that, but if Waves updates to v10.0 from v9.3 you can't just take the bug fixes. If you wanted to update you would have to be covered under WUP. I can call Waves to confirm this on Monday, as their offices have closed for the weekend.

I'm installing the Waves License Center for 40 minutes to this moment. It says 11 min 5 sec left (whoa, now 12 min 15 sec!). They say here "never look a gift horse in the mouth" but this is sorta frustrating.

Well, I'm done with the Licence Center, now downloading one gb installer to install one free plugin. It should better be fantastic, really. It,s 2:30 am Moscow time, let's think what else i can do in the meantime.
Sorry, had really hard week.
Btw, my USB stick to which the license is saved, should it be now always connected to my DAW machine?

Wow, this is starting to make me wonder if it's all worth it for one freebie!! What's in the 1 GB (!) installer? Does it add extra crap on your computer or what?

I need a 1 GB License Center for a simple plugin?
That's 33 % of my monthly download limit (which is 3 GB)...

My guess he chose the offline installer - and thereby get the lot in one chunk. To save him multiple operations - download of installer does not know what will be installed finally.Tricky-Loops wrote:I need a 1 GB License Center for a simple plugin?

The online installer though - starts rather quickly and give you checkboxes for every product you want to install - the full range there is.
You check this freebee.
Then it starts downloading just that one and licensecenter.
But depending on load on Waves site that download can take longer. Waves site is probably slowest response on the internet - to load first page anyway. Then it's better.
