I don't think this one is that bad, just could have colours less in your face and a bit more cohesion.
It's not ugly; it just looks like it was made by kids for kids.

I see the black friday deals really was just for friday. Sigh...

I really like that Parsec but I would only consider buying it at a reduced price. It's a pity they didn't do a discount on all plugns.

There's still a chance there will be more sales. I actually think there will be.

Last year they didn't do anything for Black Friday, but they had a Christmas sale for the first 25 days of December. Each day they put a few different rack extensions on sale.

I guess we'll know tomorrow.

That's because Reason is just a toy.
It is 2013 and all EQ plugins developed now should have
graphical interactive spectrum displays.
The RE SDK should really be revamped soon...:(

Grum.
Scotty would have done a better job...:(

Yeah, I passed on Revival last night and it was gone from temptation this morning.

I did notice when I was checking out the site that their security certificate was renewed a couple of weeks ago. Props are on the ball.

Really?? I like the rubber knobs and different colors. It's got character. You guys must like the sterile, clinical style.
But they're not pleasing and harmonious colors. They are more like the colors that a color blind person would choose. Seriously
Besides the brown, they're just primary colors along the spectrum. I think yellow would have been too bright. Maybe just tone down the saturation a bit? Here are some GUI's I think are awful..

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Reason myself, but I think denouncing it as a toy because the SDK doesn't support interactive graphical spectrum analyzers reeks of elitism.

These are not giants developers like Native Instruments. I think it's smart that they would concentrate their time and resources on the sound instead of redundant bells and whistles.

Not to be controversial or anything, I've just never understood the whole fascination with feature bloat. R7 has a built in visual analyzer.. if you need one so badly, why not use that one with whichever EQ you're using?

Reason is a toy??
Oh boy here we go...

Really, anything related to music production could be considered a "toy". Just because they are obscenely expensive doesn't make them less recreational.. all music, and art for that matter, is recreational.

Totally agree, I was just commenting on the inevitable "reason is not a proper DAW for REAL musicians" line that is usually wheeled out on any reason discussion.
Personally I came to reason after being a very long time cubase user and in all honesty I never looked back.
I absolutely love reason and what it can do and it is just as valid as any of the other so called 'pro' DAWs.
It may not be to everyone's taste but to call it a toy is just ignorant and lacks understanding of its abilities.

Post

I think I am starting to see where the Reason is a toy argument is coming from. DAWs that are not toys are overly complex, bloated and buggy with features that most users never use or understand. I must use such things in a bedroom studio to convince myself that I am a pro because its what the pros use. Not toys like Reason, its all clear to me now.

Post

Reason isn't a toy, but imo it only became a real DAW six months ago, with MIDI out.

It's also way behind in a few key areas.

And the way they first implemented the ability to record audio was absurd.

Like I said earlier in the thread, Props like to shoot themselves in the foot. They came out with Record not thinking of the fact that people would have to continually update two programs instead of one, to get some basic functionality. When RE's came out they backed themselves into the corner of never being able to implement cross platform plugin support without pissing off a lot of devs and users who have RE and VST, AU etc. versions. I think their perrogative to be different has left them in the dust in some areas (of which they are slowly catching up) but unlike certain other applications, it's not overly complicated and doesn't get in your way when you're trying to be creative. It also excels in sound design and modularity, though it's presets tend to be lackluster so a lot of folks will dismiss it.

If you want a toy, I got one for you right here..
