People who bitch about hassles... Waves are giving away a plugin for FREE to us! Come ON! I'm getting really annoyed about complaining when getting free stuff. AND - it's actually a really great plugin, does make the bass nice and creamy. A big thanks to Waves for this!

I don't know how many .dlls the WOLI installs as program files, but it didn't install anything else until I got a prompt asking what plug-ins I want to install. The connection for those was slower than usual yesterday but it didn't take that long after the first try, which had timed out.
As far as installing the license control overseer central office authority app, I guess that's just something you will have to decide for yourself if you want to deal with it. It's just the way Waves does things and it has always worked for me.
This is a "trick" plug-in, but it is not only a very good one, it's one you have already heard on huge numbers of commercial albums. Kind of amazing Waves is giving it away.

That's what they do this time of year. I bought my first Wave plugs last year for $9 a pop (Q10, SuperTap, & Ren Axx.) They weren't super useful, (especially now that I bought the Silver bundle), but it got my foot in the door to the world of Waves. That's what they want.A.M. Yea, but R-Bass is in a category by itself. As I said, it's an industry standard.

Guys and Gals ... let me remind you of one thing.
- This IS a waves plugin ... say hello to "Waveshell"
- The code for this plug is probably older than most members here posting.
Not a bad thing in and of itself, but something to consider.
If its just a .dll .... bring it on.
But otherwise its hard to get excited IMO.
This plug isnt free at all, you purchase it with your consent to be openly marketed to by Waves ... and perhaps WUPed if you take the bait.
Good Deal?
Anyway i think REAPER has a JS plug that does a similar thing:
Stillwell: hugebooty

Can someone compare it to WAVES Renaissance Bass? If it's really sounding the same, I'll refrain from installing the Waves one....

There were two pretty long threads here once that kicked around ideas on what this thing does and how to go about copying it.
I dont think there is a better option than free/$40...
And I get the sense that a lot of Waves other plugins have maybe lost a little bit of their relative 'special' over time, with competition. So, pretty generous in my eyes.

Yea. I was also surprised they chose this one to gift out. Its totally unique. I bet a long-term steady seller.A.M. Gold wrote:Yea, but R-Bass is in a category by itself. As I said, it's an industry standard.

Yes, you will be spammed by Waves, but that's a given with free promo's like this because Waves is not a freeware developer.
This thing excels at giving, along with some careful EQ, saturation, and compression, THE commercial kick sound from "urban/ hip hop" style and "urban/dance hybrid crossover whatever-it-is style" that has become more and more common these days.
Take it or leave it. I use it because I make hip hop beats with part of my production time so it's a no-brainer for me.

It's a free plug - why on earth would you let others judge whether you should install it or not?Tricky-Loops wrote:Just tried it, and it doesn't knock my socks off...Melkor wrote:Anyway i think REAPER has a JS plug that does a similar thing:

First world dilemmas.

Let's be fair - you can turn off news stuff at your account at any time.Melkor wrote: This plug isnt free at all, you purchase it with your consent to be openly marketed to by Waves ... and perhaps WUPed if you take the bait.

Earlier this year they had this $50 voucher for anything you bought - and so Waves now got the email I have for AudioDeluxe as well. So you just have to consider what comes with these offers.
This RBass I did not bother, I got MaxxBass which has more options.
And to be sure I can turn spam off - I always register with a unique alias address everywhere(even at KVR). So I can mute that email at my ISP at any time if some spam bother me more than I can take. I got some 50+ aliases for everywhere.
So with a little bit of planning - you don't have to be bothered by anyone.
And Waves support is really good. I put a ticket yesterday and got reply in 15 minutes. That is part of WUP - support.
So clarifying WUP a bit - you don't need a WUP for anything registered until v10 something - according to reply I got. If there is a v9rxx installer with fixes and such - just download and update - even after the WUP expired as such. You get a one year WUP with any product you buy. And a said - for a single plugin that might be $10 or so - is that a problem for another year of support and updates.
There are vendors that are really scary to me - like Avid and Steinberg. Waves is not one of them.
But to some people - any vendor that ask for money is scary it seems. The freebee generation.

I'm feeling very grateful for this plug.
If it is not working for you then do the following:
1) Reinstall Waves and make sure you select the plug.
2) Open Waves' site and login / make a new account.
3) Enter the code they emailed you.
4) Open Waves' app and licence the plug for your pc.
5) Locate waveshell.dll and put it with your other vsts.
6) If your daw cannot open waveshell, drop the waveshell.dll on the app called shell2vst. Your plug will then be extracted and ready to put with your other vsts. http://support.image-line.com/knowledge ... 54&ans=179 Note that no support will be provided by Waves if this method is used.
...and for whatever time that took you, you just saved $45+
