Melo Essential is $99 by itself so the upgrade to Pro would kill two birds with one stone, get a free Essential License and some more S1 plugins.
Is melodyne essentials the same version that we had free access to during a trial when I first purchased the producer edition? So it has melodyne integrated into the edit view and you can do audio to midi and all that?
Yup and totally seamless

Has creative uses, not just for ruining vocals ;)

But this isn't polyphonic, right?

Essentiials is Monophonice, but when you get SO2 Prof, after installing and registering Melodyn youll get a time limited offer to upgrade to to Editor for 50% of ie $150/150EUR.

Not bad :)

Well, I thought there was some kinda integration issue with editor.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I was just trying to say that isn't a "reason" for me to upgrade. I'm far more interested in the project arrange thingy than anything else. That looks really slick. I don't think I had a need for it until recently.

What have you heard?

I havent played with it extensively but its completely integrated from what Ive watched, read and tried myself. It really is seamless!

I was after it so I can record guitar chords as audio, as one example, and then mess with the individual notes of those chords, which it can do with ease 8)

Just a remembrance of people complaining, can't remember specifically.

For better or worse I bought the producer to pro upgrade. Man, that's a TON of IR's for open air!!!!!!!

Can you chose to not download all the extra samples, loops, IR's, etc? My hard drive is nearing full capacity.

Post

Yes, but open air requires impulses to work. But you don't have to install any of the packs/loops/etc if you don't want to. It's all optional. The installer for studio one is 120mb if I'm seeing correctly.

I got the Prof upgrade too and and now the Exchange is working from within Studio One.

I was also uninterested in any of the addon content except the IRs.

Addons are optional and can be dowloaded from your web account or from within Studio One.

Discovered some CPU hoggage after bouncing some tracks and then disbling the plugins that had been frozen.

Although, SO was showing no CPU useage, Task Manager showed otherwise.

I found that a quick delete and delete undo of the those tracks releases the CPU.
Probable the plugins I was using and not specifically a SO bug.

I just bought S1 Professional in the black Friday deal at Audio Deluxe.

I am a long time user of Live and have been very very dissapointed with Ableton since the v9 update and have been considering switching to S1 for a while.

My number one priority when deciding on a new DAW was the clip / channel saving capabilities that I enjoy with Live and a fresh app based on relatively new code. This meant Cubase and Logic etc were out as I feel they are based on old ideas and code and have had to adapt with a myriad of compromises due to that. Not interested in the pro tools route either for many reasons.

I'll be using S1 as a mastering DAW and taking advantage of the DDP export to start with but hope to start shifting towards using it as my primary sequencer once my current crop of Abelton projects get finished.

I got my serial last night and have already installed it. It's got stacks of very useable looking content (vengeance, uberschal libraries etc) and also comes with Melodyne integrated.

One happy chappy here, All this for £107? Ableton can kiss my shiny... :)

Cheers

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored...

and Steinberg mine..
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
