I don't use the effects on OPX, it sounds great without them.layzer wrote:yeah, well... this synth isn't sweetened with internal effects. and the dry output of the oscillators sound good to me. i'll pass on synthedit and keep following development of this OBX emuged leitch wrote:still sounds average to me, it just has a generic soft synth sound to my ears, sorry I don't mean to be harsh but I wanted to like this but I'm afraid I'll pass on this and stick with OPX Pro II which is capable of much more than emulating the OBX

Update:
Tune knob, adjusted evnelope and lfo scaling, fixed bug with extreme pulse width modulation. Rewoked oscillators internally , possibly less cpu consumance. Triangle and saw + pulse syncable wavefors are planned , not very soon though. ( i dont have much free time before February , so the development will be slowed down).

Thank you, 2DaT!
mmm, triangle and saw+pulse syncable waveforms are going to be a wonderful addition!

Sounds pretty good, real fat. Glad to see controls, last one I tried was gui-less.
Not bad on cpu.

Good to have a GUI finally! I've grown far too accustomed to having all my parameters in logical groups. Everything appears to be working properly in Jeskola Buzz.

thanks 2dat for this freebie, I think you did a stellar job on the sound. and I must say the 12db oberheim filter is more versatile than I thought (can even make decent punchy basses).
here's a quick demo made with it. (all sounds obxd apart from drums , and no effects )

looking forward to a few more features : triangle added to VCO, retrigger for the LFO and maybe a subosc?(with all shapes) . but already as it is it is more than worth keeping. thanks

As i know , ob8 has triangle wave and lfo retrigger option. But i dont have enough time to implement them right now, till the end of exams.
Also some work needed on gui part and program handling. And those things have higher priority.
Well suboscillator would be too much, because it will make obxd sound rather modern, but i want to keep it "vintage"

this is one of my recent songs that made use of OBXD's great OB filter
to recreate the infamous RUSH "tom sawyer" sound. i used some chorus using TAL's chorus LX plugin on the effects bus.
other sounds were
bass - akai AX80
fm guitar - yamaha sy77
pads - korg T2ex
were the hardware OB's velocity sensitive? as OBXD seems to
lack it.

No, OB's werent velocity sensitive.
Thats how i see "tom sawer" patch. Quite close for me. You may also add some delay/reverb to your taste

Saw/pulse switches, when both are inactive - triangle waveform is selected. They all are hardsync'd propertly. Here (seems the link is constant).

Sounds great. Now, when can we get a version that allows to save patches? Don't mean to sound picky, but when I start to mess around with the parameters and then realize I cannot save the patches, I feel sad2DaT wrote:Saw/pulse switches, when both are inactive - triangle waveform is selected. Well, the question is "are these all the parameters there will be and are they in the right order?", fmr, because once you're done with that any further modification to the number of parameters or their order will break the compatibility with the older patches.
I'm saying that because I don't think we're there yet. 2DaT knows best, though.
