Just wanted to ask those who have used one, what the Mackie 1220 is like as a mixer?
And secondly how it goes with the Onyx Firewire expansion card option?
Thanks
Mackie 1220 with Onyx firewire card..a good unit, or...?

I haven't used one, but I hear good stories about it.
Mackie makes quite good mixers usually.
Consider this a friendly bump then...

Heya,
I have the original 1220 from 8 years ago.
The firewire card still works, I have lost 1 channel though.
The pre-amp pots are scratchy and I have broken the solo buttons on the first 2 channels.
In it's defense, I imagine it has been running for 5 of those 8 years, in a smoke and cigarette ash ridden bedroom studio, being lugged interstate with bags on top of it(the solo buttons).
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mackie or Tapco,
and my studio just wouldn't be the same without it for being my channel router.
The pre-amps seem fine, reasonably vanilla- as it's analog you can push them into overdrive.
hmm- certainly has done it's job, and continues to

We're both blokes,
I would be the kinkiest girl though-
maybe I'll try a woman's body on in the afterlife.
Oh yeah, the eq is decent(and handy),
I think if you get a latest gen-
you can stream it over firewire,
otherwise the original's EQ is post DAW streaming.
