I am sorry but I cannot discuss the pricing policy.
EDITED: The price changed on the 15 of october from 149 to 199.
So now the upgrade from Cubase 6.5 to Cubase 7 should stay in 199.00.
May I ask why do you want to know? Maybe I can explain it better.

Hi Guillermo, fmr is on 6.5 and wants to know if grabbing an upgrade to 7 right now (and getting 7.5 via free grace period) is the cheapest option?

Rather than waiting for 7.5 to come out and then upgrading from 6.5 to 7.5.

In 2 days fmr may struggle to find a 7 upgrade pack (if that's the cheaper option)?

I activated the 7 upgrade 2 days ago (was hesitant to install following comments here about it, but wanted upgrade option before price increases came into effect) so, yep, you could upgrade to 7 now and be included in grace period to 7.5.

Can you elaborate on this? If I upgrade now from 6.5 to 7, how much do I save compared to buy the upgrade after the launching of Cubase 7.5?

If you ACTIVATE C7 ... not buy C7, within the grace period you will get 7.5 for free. So, if you can run around and find a C7 upgrade somewhere, you will save whatever the 7.5 upgrade is in your currency.

I can still order on Steinberg shop, but the upgrade from 6.5 to 7 currently costs 199,00 euros. I doubt they will charge more when 7.5 becomes available. It's already quite expensive. Will they? Guillermo?

Yes Dude..., it is derailing... Lots of people agree with the points you are making, but you're burying any useful content about this 7.5 release that maybe is in this thread by being so obstinate.

fwiw, If you have good third party plugs most of the updates don't really bring much, and this certainly makes the upgrade pricing less than attractive. I'm still on 6.5, didn't see the need or real benefits to go to 7.

£162 to upgrade to 7, no confirmation of how much more to upgrade to 7.5. I don't really see much benefit from upgrading to the new mixer in 7, or for the new features in 7.5. I use the vst racks and not instrument tracks so have multiple outputs already from vsts, hiding tracks can be done to my needs by good use of folders...

One concern that I do have over the more recent Steinberg pricing, is that if you don't early adopt or actively want to skip a version or two, you'll still end up having to spend the same to get to the updated version. i.e if I update from 6.5 to 7, 7.5 and then 8 that the cost would be the same as if I just updated directly from 6.5 to 8. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

No one can confirm that, because no one knows how much C8 will be or what the upgrade costs will be. I doubt even the Borgz have pricing for C8 done yet.

Do you mean the VST Instrument rack?

Yes, if I load 20 instruments into the rack with all the QC and routings the way I want, can I save that entire instrument chain as a single preset?

For the VST instruments that have a special integration with Cubase it will recall the Quick Control that you have setup in that particular instrument E.g. HALion 5 or HALion Sonic 2. But for the rest, the next time you load the instrument it will recall exactly the Quick Controls parameter assignments that you have previously set up on the VST Instrument Rack. So these are stored globally.

So I can't load 10 instruments and have the 10 instruments load back all at once from a preset? It's still 1 instrument at a time?

No, but, wouldn't it be the same as saving it as a template... I simply do not see a realistic situation when you are in the middle of a project and all of the sudden you want to load 10 new instruments to replace the existing ones.
Please do not get me wrong, but for that, why don't you simply save the project as a template?

You have no idea why someone wants to switch to a different instrument rack? To test , what instrument combination is more suitable for the current project. AFAIK Digital Performer has something called v-racks , would come to mind.

Lets assume i have 10 different plugins running and the sound is not really what i wanted, then i remember the combination of sylenth1, retrolouge, padshop and halion sonic was great in the last project. OR to check a different instrument rack for layering. You cant be serious to suggest to save a project as a template.

So basically the answer is no. V6.0 did not receive any of the V6.5.5 fixes. V6.0 did not receive any of the V6.5.4 bugfixes and so on. It only received SOME of the 6.5X bugfixes. That means that users had to pay 50 Euros to enjoy bug fixes too and not only the new features. I really hope that you reconsider this time.

It means that there is not such document, with the bug fixes.

Cubase 6 did received all the bug fixes free of charge on the Cubase 6.0.7 update that was released a month after Cubase 6.5 was released.

I never said that customers have to pay for bug fixes, please do not paraphrase me.
