There are some misunderstanding, probably for my wrong tech terms.

Chirs wrote: "If by "program" you mean "preset," that's up to your host. "
So from this reply i can understand that there's a way to change preset, and with all vst instruments when i hear "preset" i think about all the synth parameters values stored in a file. There isn't any pattern thing involved in this statement. Well it could be involved if the pattern settings was included in the preset. But i've understand that this isn't.
So i assume that the all the values for kick, snare....hi-hat etc, can be changed when someone tell "preset".
Probably there's, from me, a confusion about presets and drum kits.

Anyway..what i've got is that isn't possible to change all the sounds in 1 shot without a mouseclick over a presetpanel.

I'm sorry if i've asked more than one time the same thing, but really this wasn't so clear for me.

Well, definitively will look forward if changing of both sounds+patterns via midi will be implemented...at the moment seems that tattoo don't fit my needs.

Thank to all.

You're welcome :)

As mentioned in another Tattoo thread I'd really like to see the kits being separated from the patterns. The way it's currently implemented is a bit weird.

Played with it. It sounds meh.. It sounds not good enough. I expected more. The sounds reminded me of Drumatic, which is a great freebee.

Sure, some use can be found for it but overall i would grab a sampled kit, microtonic or d16's beauties before using tattoo.

nah-i wasnt impressed by tattoo at all really

How does Tattoo compare to Tremor? I like the latter, great polyrhytmic grid, good sounds, but (more) expensive.

Any ideas? I have a few hours before tattoo is no longer on sale for cyber monday.

Post

They're apples and oranges. Tremor has a lot, lot more synthesis and modulation options hence the premium price. Not to mention that it sounds better. But at that price I'd get Punch, which has some nice sampling options.

I use Tattoo a fair amount - it's not my go-to drum machine, but for a lot of what I do, it does the job nicely. Love the sequencer and the randomize, makes it easy to throw together interesting beats.

But it's not an end-all/be-all, but then.. you're not paying $300 either!

I use Tremor a lot, and from what I've heard certainly wouldn't compare them "sound-wise", but the 'randomizing' feature (alone) of Tattoo's sequencer is worth the sale price, IMHO.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Thanks. I'm gonna skip it this year and try to learn some of the free apps I got as well as the EZDrummer that I just got. Next year I'll see if tremor gets an update with MIDI out and lighter cpu load. I like tattoo's sequencer but not the sounds so much. With more experience using different apps, I can make a better choice next year. Maybe it'll be Geist instead of either.

Someone resurrects a 2 year old thread, that was already a year old to start with.
In fact it is nearly 4 years old, if we are gonna count.

But they are there just waiting. And having a coherent conversation like nothing ever happened. I'm impressed.

Does no one check the dates on the posts at KVR?

This really isn't meant as a criticism. I don't know of anywhere else on the net where anyone could have a semi-coherent conversation, with people even answering themselves a year later, and it all kind of making sense.

Erm.. I'm so impressed, I'm going to post some stuff about Tattoo, even if it is nearly 4 years out of date. Timeless. Who could argue with that?

:-)

KVR, where the weird just get weirder. And the weirder just get strong. Or whatever Hunter S Thompson would have said if he was a VST freak.

Yeah, Tattoo, by Audio Damage, get it now for 14 quid

It's a bit of an odd ball for sure.
The sounds are bread and butter but workable. But you wouldn't buy it for the sounds. You buy it for the randomness built into every part.

A lot of people get Tattoo wrong. Tattoo has strength in depth on more than one level. This machine takes time. It's about rhythm, not so much about the sounds it makes. They can come later.

f**k. It's just 14 quid at the moment. It won't be for long. The grid is a joy. There aren't many drum machines that have this 'facility'. Battery don't. Still. Tattoo does.

I really like Tattoo. I didn't need it. I didn't want it. I don't even know how it ended up in my drum arsenal. Probably a drunken friend playing a drunken joke. Like leaving a crusty sock in my fine food drawer. It happens.

But I won't be selling it. I may one day give it away to another friend.

It's small, lightweight. It's genius really when you see how the sequencing goes with notes C5 and C4 etc..

It's 14 quid you mugs!

Sin now! Repent later!

Ah, I think that's how it works..

What 14 quid are you talking about? Isn't it (or wasn't it) 40% off of 59 USD?

59 dollars is at the moment equal to 35 GBP (quid). Now, skim 40 percent of that - 14 quid - British Pounds. Then again, maths and caluculators (sic) was never my strong point.

Does that make sense to you?

'Quid' is a term for GBP.
