No, also have studio & room here. Sounds really fine but never used it before now !PAK wrote:You're right, but you missed that the only early reflection type is "Hall" in HALion. I could've sworn it was only Hall at one point. But I was going by memory rather than checking.. soooobudweiser wrote:No, also have studio & room here. Sounds really fine but never used it before now !
It's a nice reverb, and gets some interesting results if you turn the time controls high or bump the modulation up

Suppose I don't upgrade from Cubase 7 to 7.5 now, and wait till Cubase 8 is announced. If I activate 7.5 within the grace period for Cubase 8, do I get a free upgrade?
Not that I plan to wait till C8 is announced, but am curious to know how it works in such a situation.

I think this is exactly what happened with the V6.5 grace period update. It's Steinberg mate! Nothing is fare! Loyal users had to pay $150+50 ($200 total update cost) to get V7 and late V6.5 updaters got V7 for free ($50 total update cost).maschinelf wrote:Suppose I don't upgrade from Cubase 7 to 7.5 now, and wait till Cubase 8 is announced. That should work, yes. That way you'd save €50 and pay for only a .5 update rather than a full .0 version. If you can live with 7.0 until late 2014/early 2015 then that would probably be worth doing.maschinelf wrote:Suppose I don't upgrade from Cubase 7 to 7.5 now, and wait till Cubase 8 is announced. The only question is whether the next version of Cubase will stick to the release cycle Steinberg has been on. Most people still haven't realized that Microsofts intention / desire is to kill x86/64 off on the consumer side (and eventually business side) and completely move to ARM even on the desktop. Apple are also signalling their intentions by giving tablets the same name as their laptops.
It'll be interesting to see if Steinberg, knowing of these possibilities, go for a complete ground up rewrite of the next Cubase to cover whatever possibilities are going to come up over the next decade..

I actually have HalionSonic2. I really like the reverb effect on it, but I never really fiddled with it extensively. Nice to have this as an independent effect. For my purposes, I'd probably make the HALL a default send. Very cool.budweiser wrote:No, also have studio & room here. Another question
Those who have halion 4 / halion sonic 1 is the library of the SE 2 installed in a totally different place (safe at least to work independenly)? Also how different is it from V1? What about the expansion libraries?

I'm considering Cubase Artist instead of upgrading my Logic 9 to X... Looking at all the bug complaints on the App store, and the crazy amount of additions to Cubase recently I'm tempted to move on... Of course I could just use L9 and my other smaller DAWs (MuLab and Live Intro) but for some reason I like the effort Steinberg is putting forth. Regardless of the bugs in both of them...

Cubase is the best DAW IMO. The problem is that Steinberg is not the best company (far from it)DHR53 wrote:I'm considering Cubase Artist instead of upgrading my Logic 9 to X... Last time I installed Halion 3, I could chose where to install the content.ZINO wrote:Another question

Everything Halion Sonic SE will be put into "Shared Folders" or similar of your user account.
Can't comment on HSSE2 and it's content - no demo yet (read a couple of posts above, it'll be out End January/Early Feburary), and I think I won't be updating this time around either and rather wait for C8. For obvious reasons.

Er, well I actually owned Cubase SX in the 3.0 days, so it's not much of a leap... Basically, I can use any of em' but these days I'm sort of taking a "show me what you got attitude." And testing and testing. I have a license for Orion, FL studio, MuLab, Live Intro, Reaper and Logic 9. They all work for making noise...

I have recent experience with this. A few weeks ago I upgraded Wavelab. While logged into my account I noticed an order for Cubase upgrade to v6 from 2011. I thought that was odd because I didn't remember ordering it and my dongle only showed Cubase 5. I finally tracked down the unopened box on my shelves. When I installed and activated it, the eLicenser control center automatically upgraded my license to v7 as I was within the grace period, having JUST activated v6.ZINO wrote:I think this is exactly what happened with the V6.5 grace period update. So I (unintentionally) went from C5 to C7 (and possibly to C7.5 I guess, I have not checked) with one purchase of a C6 upgrade. Date of activation is what matters.
edit: I'm at home now and just ran the eLCC. It automatically updated my license to C7.5 which is what I assumed would happen.
edit 2: Here's the grace period page in case anyone isn't aware of it.

ohhi! yeah ive owned cubase since last december. its been an utter epic waste of money for almost a year. im curious, about this update. oh and btw, to all the cubase fanbois who told me it was my lack of memory including steinberg themselves when they helped me on the phone. the truth comes out. now that we know that the asio issue is very real. what effect does the red bar lighting up actually have on audio and dsp?
or does it actually not cause any issues besides being a visual annoyance. it hilarious that even on the steinberg videos themselves you can see this little red bar. is there a demo i can try or are steinberg playing the very common 'bait the impulse buyer' as in, no demo till all the impulse buyers have bought the update.
