I listened to your music...some pieces I liked - Noyez and Marquise, others didn't move me. The thing is that unless you are making music for someone else only YOU have to like it. Make sure you LOVE it before publishing or you can't expect others to even like it. Not everyone is going to hear what's in your universe or care to make an effort to see/hear your vision. Musical contrast is your friend. So my advice is to find as many ways as possible to challenge yourself creatively and you will be satisfied with your creation, no matter who else likes it.

To my ears, 'I'm so Chick' has:

A very dance orientated backbone, with a strong structure and simple elements.

To my ears, 'I'm so Chick' has not:

A strong base line, that carry's it's dance characteristics coupled with a break to a simple tune that carry's the repeating chord stabs along the journey.

Mix these in with a bit more dirt, in the form of tube distortion on the low end, clever but more general subtle use of compression across the mix and some braver found sound artifacts.

And you would have a tune worthy of Ohhh 'Chicane' someone like that.

I took a listen to your Soundcloud page, and objectively I couldn't understand why you have put so many of your tunes, that effectively sound very similar to each other, together.

The thing is, I'm hearing a lot of great arrangement and organization in your work, with a clear sense of identity, but no freedom from the 'Norm'.

This makes for a powerful view of you as a producer, but not one who takes his time to consider what should be said as an artist, after all, music is a way of communicating idea and meaning with out words, so I would seriously think about that, so you don't sound like the guy who tells you the same things down the gym every week, despite it being good opinion.

The bottom line to me, though would be to re-mix "sometimes heavily" a couple of your track's to find new ground. I seriously think outside of the box, bring fresh ideas, (maybe from acoustic or live instruments).

Watch a few movies, chill out, go for a walk, read a book, and consider your peers work.

The 808/909 drum machine is about to have a renaissance, so I would seriously look at that in regard to you love of the 'Drum'. if you can't tear you self away from the music you currently like to produce, then you could do a little worse than add, some old school freedom.

I'm So Chic has a good groove going overall, but it's still just turning on and off loops. None of the music actually does anything. I know dance music is loop oriented, but if you listen closely, the best stuff manages to smuggle in musical adventures without disrupting the groove. You've gotta trick the listener into thinking they're hearing loops when there are actual musical or aural devices going on under the surface. It can be as subtle as you need but it has to be there. If you're really good you can even turn the situation on it's head - by turning on and off cleverly designed loops, you can create musical events. But it's not exactly an exact science or an on/off thing, it's all down to opinion and perception.

That, to me, is the only way to really break through the glut of "me too" bedroom producers making dance music. Because these days anyone can make a competently engineered loop track with a bit of practice. Thanks to the democratization of music it's become a hobby like stacking beer mats

What baffles me are the number of accounts on KVR that do NOTHING but post links to their "beats" and talk about themselves. And these accounts always get replies and advice. Yet when someone who contributes a lot posts something and everyone ignores it, they get the advice "maybe you should try contributing more"?!
