We haven't paid him anything... its a collaboration. He probably makes more DJing in a month than we could ever pay him. Nickys a really cool guy whos just really into production and plugins. We sent him an early Alpha for feedback and he had a ton of good ideas so we decided to collaborate.
I Know its "cool" to hate successful artists but some of these guys are just like us... they just love music, making tunes and playing with plugins. In fact id say 95% of the big artist we meet are very cool. Maybe because they have nothing to prove since they are already successful.

I only used 2 manys....A.M. Gold wrote: It would also help if the dev wouldn't taunt people asking for a demo by saying "many many many etc." people have already acquiesced to buying without trying. That belittles the whole idea of why developers usually provide demos, which is unprofessional.
It was just a small joke.RawSound wrote: Ok, so i (and many others) have no plans to buy right now...
Fact is most folks don't need a demo they just go with what they see from the videos and they are all overwhelmingly happy. Who wouldn't be we just released a plugin 5x less expensive than out closest competitor whos demo you need an elicenser which costs £30 if you don't have one already.
Im sure a few people that really need a demo before they can decide will slip through the net. We really aren't doing it to piss people off we just have to factor in extra cost of development and security verses lost sales and currently it doesn't make sense for us.

I don't hate him, I actually quite like a lot of his music, but that doesn't change the fact that I'd much rather not have his name in my plugin folder. I know that he did not write a single line of code. I'm a beta tester and also gave feedback to a lot of companies products (e.g. one of the latest is TAL BassLine-101), but that doesn't mean I deserve prime real estate with my name and logo built into a plugin. It just makes things very tacky and gimmicky. Will there be a release for an unendorsed version?Phil Sonic Academy wrote:I Know its "cool" to hate successful artists

@Phil: Would be nice to import own kicks (and "Kick" splits bass/click, converts the bass range into bezier curves and put the click range into the click section).
CLOSING SALE! My samplepacks: Vintage House Stabs | Deep House Chords + Volume 2 | House Piano Chords

this looks like an interesting plug from the youtube vids but i think i would just end up spending the same amount of time designing the actual kick as i currently spend choosing kick samples

If you don't like the logo you can very easily change the skins.djanthonyw wrote:I don't hate him, I actually quite like a lot of his music, but that doesn't change the fact that I'd much rather not have his name in my plugin folder. PC
C: / Program Data / Sonic Academy / Kick - Nicky Romero / Skins
There are no plans for a non Nicky version any time soon.
That would be cool.. although you can import full kicks and use the click ENV to just dial out what you don't need. The sub section is so versatile it doesn't take much to dial in whatever sub you are after.Wildfunk wrote:@Phil: Would be nice to import own kicks (and "Kick" splits bass/click, converts the bass range into bezier curves and put the click range into the click section).
I think its defo a bit quicker than trawling through kick samples which i hate. Its also a lot more fun and you really feel like you are making something unique for your track.themossinator wrote:this looks like an interesting plug from the youtube vids but i think i would just end up spending the same amount of time designing the actual kick as i currently spend choosing kick samples

Sorry guys, I can't hear all the crying over the sound of Kick punching holes in my walls.
It's different because with this you make what you want instead of grasping straws by sample diving. I'm experimenting with making snares/toms/hats also. Seems to work.themossinator wrote:this looks like an interesting plug from the youtube vids but i think i would just end up spending the same amount of time designing the actual kick as i currently spend choosing kick samples

Tough audience on this forum. For a 25 quid plug in with a long demo video I can see where the sonic academy guys are coming from. I guess if they put the price up they could expend dev time on a demo, but I'd rather they spent the time refining ana etc.

@ Phil Sonic Academy
Maybe you could write big on your website that you offer refunds in case someone isn't happy with it or cannot use it. Similar to AudioDamage - they write their refund policy (30 days full refund) clearly on their homepage.

The whining in here over a name on a plug-in is ridiculous. Buy it or don't, but either way: get over it.

Exactly.
Not to mention, this is a terrific plugin and well worth more than the low price they are selling it for
