I've listened to it several times and actually quite like it so far. It's certainly better than the demos were, for sure. Give it a chance. I also got the email with download links for the 4 cd's as mp3/flac, and listened to them many hours every day for a week now. chris and his friends nailed the melodies perfectly, and they transfered the original tracks very good into a modern sound. cd4 is the highlight for me, nice mixture of classic analog synths and classical intruments. hope you all got yours too thx chris love ya

I wish I could like this, but there's really nothing in here that compels me to listen to these over the originals. The arrangements play it very safe and don't do much to iterate itself from the voice/channel constraints of the old soundchips, and the production/sound just feels sterile and lacks character. I feel as though I've already heard this stuff plenty of times from typical fan remixes like you can find at KWED or AmigaRemix.

I downloaded disc 1 of the Anthology recently from Chris' Bandcamp site. Anyone know which synths he used on the anthology?
I got this primarily for the Vince Dicola track, but I ended up really liking the Turrican tracks as well. The Dicola track was good, I'm not sure I liked the medley better than the original Transformers score, but he did take the music in a different direction. I'm not sure how he could have improved on the original as it was just such a great mix of classic analog and digital synths well programmed by Casey Young. The new track is much less synthy, yet enjoyable in its own right.
I was surprised how much I liked the Turrican tracks after a couple of listens. I wasn't familiar with Turrican as Shadow of the Beast was my last Amiga game. My Amiga 500 started becoming less reliable somewhere in that time period. The Turrican tracks did strike me as a bit midi sounding at first, but they really grew on me after listening to them in headphones. I thought a lot of the synth programming was really good. A lot of the patches have a distinctive sound, is that the Microwave XT sound I've heard mentioned before?
